During the Time War, a female Gallifreyan and her human fianc‚e were dragged into the battle war between Galifrey and the Daleks. The young woman did not want her homeworld destroyed and her husband was from an Earth timeline where the Daleks had conquered Earth. The war was long and viscous and in the end the Susan Foreman, the granddaughter of the Time Lord known as the Doctor, was ordered by the president of Galifrey to activate the self-destruct of the Eye of Harmony. "David, we have to do this," Susan said. "I know. They've rebuilt the Time Destructor and Earth will be the next target if Galifrey can't stop them," David muttered, as he wrote some stuff down in a flip notebook Susan looked up at the sky and saw two of the smaller bowshiips launch their ten-meter wide bolts of steel at two of the Daleks warships. Susan shook her head and made the dash to the presidential chamber of Galifrey. "Grandfather is up in that mess somewhere," Susan whispered to herself. The two entered the presidential chambers and Susan quickly opened the backpack that the president gave her. She pulled out the symbols of office: the sash, key, and rod of Rassilon. She put the repaired sash on and used the rod to open a chamber and entered the area where the black hole known as the Eye of Harmony was kept. David knew better than to follow Susan into the chamber. Susan went around the outer wall, feeling the sash hold the gravitational force of the black hole back. She came to a console and put the key into a slot by the console. She placed her hand on a sensor. "I am Susan Foreman, granddaughter of the Doctor. I am here on behalf of the President of Galifrey. Galifrey is about to fall. Activate the self-destruct mechanism." "Biological patterns confirm you are a Time Lady and furthermore...," a computerized voice announced "I don't care. I already know. Activate the self-destruct," Susan ordered. "Self-destruct initiated. You have three standard time units before the Eye of Harmony explodes." Susan grabbed the Key of Rassilon and quickly left the chamber and then snatched the rod to close the chamber once more. "Done. The Eye of Harmony will explode shortly," Susan said. "Let's get out of here." As soon as Susan turned her back, David grabbed her from behind and put a rag over her face. Susan passed out and David caught her before she fell. "I am sorry Susan, but your President told me the truth about your grandfather's wanderings. It is doubtful he'll survive this, so...." David carried Susan into a tall cabinet that was inside the presidential chambers. Once he entered, he put Susan down on the ground gently and put his notebook on top of her. He went over to the controls and typed in an access code. He then turned to his sleeping fianc‚e and rolled up her arm. "The universe needs you more than I do," David whispered, as he injected Susan with the same formula that the Doctor had used. "I love you, but the Daleks ensured that it was never meant to be." David bent down and kissed Susan on the lips before he left the new TARDIS. Once he left the time rotor of the craft started moving up and down and Susan Foreman had left Galifrey. David picked up one of the heavy assault weapons and saw a woman wearing a leather bathing suit. "You must be Leela. I am David Campbell," David said. "So, you were one of the Doctor's companions before or after me?" Leela said. "No. I never traveled with him. I was going to marry his granddaughter before this war happened." Leela blinked in shock. "I didn't know he was married." "He was, but only his granddaughter remained. I knocked her out and sent her away. Ready to die?" "Why?" "The Eye of Harmony is going to explode and we need to make sure the Daleks don't have time to stop it. There's another assault cannon behind you," David said. Leela saw the weapon and picked it up. "I am a warrior of the Sevateem, I have faced death quite often. I am not afraid to lay down my life to stop the Daleks." "Exterminate!" A squad of seven Daleks broke into the presidential office and Leela and David fired their weapons at them. David got a direct hit and the Dalek was flung backwards about ten meters. "Say what you will about the Galifreyans, they know how to build weapons," David said. Leela just smirked and kept firing. The two of them were able to hold the Daleks off long enough for the Eye of Harmony to destabilize and detonate. The resulting supernova wiped out a good portion of both fleets and destabilized Galifrey's sun. The sun detonated and destroyed the rest of the two fleets. A rickety old TARDIS in the shape of a blue police box was the only known survivor of the Timewar. Susan woke up and saw the familiar surroundings of a TARDIS and then saw the notebook that David had been writing in. She grabbed it and started reading it. "Susan, I know that you wanted to stay with me. However, President Romana has told me that she hopes that your grandfather will survive the war, but she has put a contingency plan into action. Since you are the Doctor's granddaughter, you can take his place and keep the universe going. I wanted to be with you, but the universe needs a guardian. Hopefully your grandfather survives and you can find happiness once more. Davros has or had that cross or crucifix of Rassilon and your grandfather had to wipe out several thousand ships as well. I think you will probably be the last of the Time Lords." Susan started crying, knowing that her fianc‚e was dead and her species. She rubbed her left arm, since it felt bruised. She looked at her arm and saw a slight gold discoloration around an injection wound. "I'm a full Time Lady now," Susan said, and rubbed her eyes. Her throat constricted as she went over the controls of the TARDIS. "This is the TARDIS I stole from the Master when he tried to kidnap me," Susan muttered, as her throat constricted in emotional pain. "I guess President Romana wanted me prepared for any eventuality, since it does have a full arsenal. Hopefully there is something for me to do to take my mind off of what just happened. This is the pain Grandfather must have felt when.... Grandmother. Mom. Dad." Susan shook her head and hunted for something to use as her journal. The TARDIS hurtled through time and space to where she would begin her journey once again.
