Our next "Dayville Yoga retreat will be dedicated
to the lifework of Swami Vishnudevananda (1927-1993). In 1957 Swami Vishnu-devananda
set out from the foothills of the Himalayas to carry out the bidding of his teacher Swami Sivananda. Sivananda placed 10 rupees in Vishnudevananda's palm and instructed him
to bring the ancient teachings of Yoga to the West. "People are waiting," he said. For 37 years, he worked tirelessly
as a dedicated spiritual teacher travelling around the world establishing city centres and ashrams. He was
known as the "Flying Swami" for the different peace missions he accomplished around the world in his colorful peace plane,
painted by Peter Max in 1971. His Vedantic message was "Man is free as a bird." Vishnudevananda founded the International
Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centres and Ashrams. He established the Sivananda training programs in the West. He wrote The Complete
Illustrated Book of Yoga (1959) and Meditation and Mantras (1978) which established him as an authority on Hatha and
The retreat will include stories about Swami
Vishnudevananda's life and his yogic teachings. We'll immerse ourselves in yogic practices of hatha yoga, pranayam, yoga nidra,
chanting, meditation, live music and theatric reenactments from Swami Vishnudevananda's inspiring and energetic life.
The day will conclude around 5:30 pm with a
communal vegetarian meal of kitchiri. In the evening we will have satsang (meditation & chanting) from 7 to 9 pm continuing
the theme of Swami Vishnudevananda. $5 donation for satsang is appreciated.
"Health is wealth. Peace of mind is happiness.
Yoga shows the way." - Swami Vishnudevananda
We are continuing to appreciate
and reap benefits from the Yogic Day Retreats that have been referred to as "Dayville" by participants. People who have been
to the Grailville Retreats over the past 18 years have commented, "It's like Grailville, only in one day." Hence, the name
"Dayville!" The energy of the groups
in the day retreats have been highly enlivening and offers the opportunity for great insight, peace and awakening to the Self.
The intent of these yogic retreats
for the past three years has been to create a series of "pilgrimages" to Indian sages and Ashrams "in our own backyard". Connecting
with Self-Realized sages through stories, teachings, traditional yogic practices, natya yoga (yoga of theatre) and inspiring
music is a beautiful gateway to our True Self. Each "Dayville" is a unique experience of exploring the many ways we can live
in our Natural Selves. Whether you've been attending "Dayville" all along or decide to join in the pilgrimage at this point,
it doesn't matter; each day and evening of these immersions in the Self are complete in themselves.

darshan of the Master moves us . . . to the place where we yearn only to be in the cave of his heart. To hear the drop of
the cave water like a clear single bell. To rest in the heart of meditation. We are transformed in the cave of the heart."
