"The Mystic Bhakti Poet"

A Yoga Day Retreat with Laurel, Dan & Friends

Saturday March 17th, 2018 from 12:30 - 5:30 pm

Center for Spiritual Living; in the Sanctuary

4100 Benfield Dr. in Kettering Ohio

12:30 to 5:30 pm - cost is $35

Registration has begun. Our next "Dayville" Yoga retreat will be dedicated to the life and teachings of the Indian poet saint Mira Bai, born a princess in Rajasthan India in 1498. She had a profound influence on the religious life of her time. Many villages treasure the Krishna Bhakti Poems she composed. Mira's poems sing of ecstatic union with Krishna. Her complete surrender is the source of her freedom and strength.

"All I was doing was being, and the Dancing Energy came by my house."  - Mira Bai

This yoga retreat will include theatric reenactments of Mira Bai's life by the Dayville Players, woven between yogic practices. We'll immerse ourselves in hatha yoga, pranayama, meditation, chanting with live music & yoga nidra.

There will be a 15 minute silent break with snacks in the middle of the day. The day will conclude around 5:30 pm with a communal vegetarian meal of kitchiri. We will not be having Matri Satsang following the Dayville Retreat.

Nothing is really mine except Krishna.
O my parents, I have searched the world
And found nothing worthy of love.
Hence I am a stranger amidst my kinfolk
And an exile from their company,
Since I seek the companionship of holy men;
There alone do I feel happy,
In the world I only weep.

I planted the creeper of love
And silently watered it with my tears;
Now it has grown and overspread my dwelling.
You offered me a cup of poison
Which I drank with joy.
Mira is absorbed in contemplation of Krishna,
She is with God and all is well !

It is extremely difficult to find a parallel to this wonderful personality – Mira – a saint, a philosopher, a poet and a sage. She was a versatile genius and a magnanimous soul. Her life has a singular charm, with extraordinary beauty and marvel.” – Swami Sivananda

We are continuing to appreciate and reap benefits from the Yogic Day Retreats that have been referred to as "Dayville" by participants. People who have been to the Grailville Retreats over the past twenty years have commented, "It's like Grailville, only in one day." Hence, the name "Dayville!" The energy of the groups in the day retreats have been highly enlivening and offers the opportunity for great insight, peace and awakening to the Self. The intent of these yogic retreats for the past three years has been to create a series of "pilgrimages" to Indian sages and Ashrams "in our own backyard". Connecting with Self-Realized sages through stories, teachings, traditional yogic practices, natya yoga (yoga of theatre) and inspiring music is a beautiful gateway to our True Self. Each "Dayville" is a unique experience of exploring the many ways we can live in our Natural Selves. Whether you've been attending "Dayville" all along or decide to join in the pilgrimage at this point, it doesn't matter; each day and evening of these immersions in the Self are complete in themselves.

Dayville Retreat Participant Comments

"The darshan of the Master moves us . . . to the place where we yearn only to be in the cave of his heart. To hear the drop of the cave water like a clear single bell. To rest in the heart of meditation. We are transformed in the cave of the heart." - Janaki's poetic reflection on her participation in the recent "In Divine Presence" day retreat.

"Thank you for Saturday's bliss! I felt such a deep feeling of returning home....The message and spirit of Papaji and Maharishi "Already Free!" and a god that never disappears were so accessible and ALIVE! - AC

"Thank you both for the truly wonderful Buddha Day. I have not felt such deep stillness in a very long time. You create the perfect atmosphere for spiritual deepening. Dan's music is a perfect compliment to Laurel's teaching. It's just exquisite." -  MM

"The beauty & deep peace of the day, like a roadway one can follow back into that inner space of silence. Thank you Dan & Laurel for continuing to open that path to the heart of stillness for us all." - JV

"Thank you so much for Buddha Day. Not having to think of formulating words for a few hours was so powerful. I am reaping many blessings from the workshop." - SS

"I enjoyed all the retreat days I have attended. I loved walking meditation & plan to continue that. You & Dan do a great job. Knowing you has helped me grow spiritually & professionally." - SK

"Thank you so much for the learning & experience no one could ever get with mere reading. Nowhere else on earth I'd rather be but in this state .... of Bliss!" - KS

"Oh, what a feeling of love and belonging comes from our Dayville retreats. The flow of the day was seamless, and the intermingling of Laurel leading yoga in her special way made it easy on the body; a day without aches and pains. So many details were obviously prepared with great care. It was a truly joyful day having Shankar's teachings of Vedanta remind me, 'Immortal Self, I Am.' OM Tat Sat!" -Janaki
