The Textile Collages are made of 'recycled' materials, salvaged from flea markets, thrift stores, and what people would throw away.

Materials used include vintage cashmere , wool, taffeta, silks, corduroy (all salvaged from old sweaters, coats, etc., or donated by piece to thrift stores), scraps of upholstery fabric, and or salvaged fur/faux fur from vintage coats, muffs, etc. Beading and embellishments are also salvaged from thrift stores, yard sales, and friends :). Natural embellishments include river rocks and glass, wood and stones from my many walks.

Larger Textiles incorporate larger items found at flea markets, including bits and pieces of old wood statues, shells, doileys, lace, odds and ends of assorted jewelry...whatever I have that calls out to me can be incorporated into the piece.

Creating these collages takes approximately a month...longer depending on the size. I use a vintage Singer and a new White sewing machine to sew major pieces
together and the rest is done by hand. Textiles come from me based on impulse...although I will custom make them, if requested. Sometimes I create them based
from an image I've painted, a concept I've read about, or something I've seen. I love to make them.

This Textile uses scraps of corduroy, upholstery fabric, scraps of faux fur, angora and wool yarn scraps, bone beads and real pearls salvaged from broken necklaces, gold wire, and rocks from Pittsburgh's Alleghency river, and two vintage glass buttons for the eyes.

It's called Adult Dreams Unicorn and measures approximated 4' x 4'. -
