DESCRIPTION ********************************************************************** This project began as a solution to the official bug with acquiring blight disease during blight storms and evolved into something more. Weather Effects removes what is effectively immunity from blight while making it possible for the player to contract the disease during a blight storm. It introduces other negative physical effects from traveling in an ash or blight storm, and it modifies the regional weather patterns to be more consistent with the geography of Vvardenfell. It also doubles the chance of contracting a blight disease from a blighted creature. This is achieved using hidden activators in Seyda Neen and Ghostgate. The Bloodmoon version adds an activator in Fort Frostmoth. The player must pass through one of these settlements before the changes will take effect. ********************************************************************** 2. INSTALLATION ********************************************************************** The archive consists of two plug-in modules (.esp). and a readme (.txt). Unzip the mods into your Morrowind/Data Files directory, or manually copy SeriousWeather_v1_00.esp or SeriousWeather_BM_v1_00.esp into your Morrowind\Data Files folder. If asked to overwrite, choose [Yes]. ********************************************************************** 3. USING THE PLUG-IN ********************************************************************** From the Morrowind Launcher, open Data Files and check the box next to SeriousWeather_v1_00.esp or SeriousWeather_BM_v1_00.esp (if using the Bloodmoon expansion SeriousWeather_v1_00.esp depends on Morrowind only. SeriousWeather_BM_v1_00.esp requires the Bloodmoon expansion. SeriousWeather_BM_v1_00.esp contains all the content included in SeriousWeather_v1_00.esp. Do not use the Morrowind only version with the Bloodmoon version. Activate only one or the other plugin! It can be used with a new game or an existing saved game. If you choose to un-plug Serious Weather, it is best to save in-doors or when there is no storm raging so the storm effects are removed. Warnings will be encountered upon loading your save, but they will discontinue after saving without Serious Weather. ********************************************************************** 4. FEATURES ********************************************************************** - Counters the official practice of giving the player blight disease during blight storms without having to suffer any of the effects (this is effectively immunity to blight). - Adds the chance of contractting one or more blight diseases during a blight storm (with effects - so travel prepared). - Doubles the chance of contracting blight disease by changing the value of the game setting (GMST) fDiseaseXferChance. - Adds the following negative effects while traveling in ash or blight storms: decreased Speed (-20) and Agility (-10); Sound (20), Blind (20) balanced with Night Eye (10) so it is not too dark; Fatigue drain and a burden effect (using Feather magnitude 50). The player will occasionally take damage from flying debris. - Modifies regonal weather to be more consistent with the geography. Descreases the chance of ash storms in the Ashlands and Molag Amur after Degoth Ur is defeated. Red Mountain's weather is changed to be the same as the Ashlands thereafter. In addition to the above, SeriousWeather_BM_v1_00.esp - Adds the following negative effects while traveling during blizzards: decreased Speed (-20) and Agility (-20); Sound (20), Blind (20) balanced with Night Eye (20) so it is not darker; Fatigue drain and a burden effect (using Feather magnitude 50). Non-Nord players will suffer slow but continuous damage from the severe cold unless they some form of frost resistance or frost shield active. ********************************************************************** 5. VERSION HISTORY ********************************************************************** Version 1.00 - Initial public release ********************************************************************** 6. COMPATIBILITY ********************************************************************** This plug-in depends on Morrowind only. Serious Weather has been cleaned with TESAME, date-stamped and local reference indexes re-numbered with Wrye Mash. If you open this mod in the game editor, use Wyre Mash to preserve the date stamp and local object reference index: Date stamp: 12/30/2008/11:00:00 PM Starting local reference index: 39759 Changing these values could result in local reference conflicts with other mods. CONFLICTS: This plug-in will conflict with any other mod that intends to achieve the same thing as Serious Weather. In particular: - Mods that add possibility of contracting blight disease during a blight storm. - Mods that add negative weather effects (these effects may stack). - Mods that alter regional weather (the changes made by the last mod to load will prevail). - Mods that alter the game setting for chance of contracting blight disease from creatures (the changes made by the last mod to load will prevail). Such conflicts are not a point of regret. Only one such mod is necessary so load your preference and enjoy. ********************************************************************** 7.
