Frequently Asked Questions

Q:  Am I guaranteed to pass the course?

A:  No.  However, the pass rate for the class is around 95 percent, and that is higher than the pass rate at the DMV.  The State of Nevada now charges $25 each time you test, regardless of outcome.  While we cannot guarantee your success, we will do everything reasonably possible to help you succeed.  Success in the course depends on your riding skills at the end of the course.  Instructors reserve the right to dismiss you from class at any point if, in their professional judgment, you become a danger to yourself or others.

Q:  What is required to pass?

A:  The course completion requirements for all classes consist of a written multiple-choice test and a riding skills evaluation.  The skills evaluation is based on the riding exercises that you will practice before you take the evaluation.

Q:  Once I pass, do I need to take a test at the DMV?

A:  No, there is no further testing required.  Like all MSF approved training programs in Nevada, once you successfully complete our course, you will receive a course completion card, which you can take to the Nevada DMV to get a motorcycle endorsement added to your license.

Q:  Will California accept your training for licensing?

A:  No, California does not accept training from any providers from outside the state.  However, the skills you develop in our class should help you pass the California DMV test should you decide to go back their to update your license

Q:  Will Arizona accept your training for licensing?

A:  As far as we know, the Arizona MVD in Bullhead City will accept training from us for licensing, but we do not know if others will as well.  We have been told that cities with established training programs provided by Team Arizona may not accept our training.  These cities include Phoenix, Tucson and Prescott.  Please check with your local MVD to be sure.

Q:  Will other states accept your training for licensing?

A:  Each state’s licensing requirement is different.  Some states will accept our training, and some require additional paperwork that you instructors will give you upon completion of class.  For states that do not accept our training, you will have to take the test at your home state DMV.

Q:  What do I need to bring to the course?

A:  We provide the motorcycles for you to ride.   Helmets are also provided if you do not have your own.  Regardless of your riding experience, you are required to wear a DOT approved helmet during the riding portion of your class. You should come to the riding portion with eye protection, a long sleeved shirt or jacket, full-fingered gloves, long pants and sturdy over the ankle footwear.

Q:  Can I get a discount on my motorcycle insurance?

A:  You may qualify for an insurance discount.  Ask your insurance agency.

Q:  It’s hot in Las Vegas and it does rain on occasions.  Do we ride in all weather conditions?

A:  Yes, you will ride regardless of weather.  Your MSF Instructor is the final authority on stopping the exercises due to weather.  Normally, lightning or extreme wind conditions are the only reasons to stop the range activities.  If hot and sunny, water is available, but you are free to bring your own.  Sunscreen is also advisable to bring.  A CamelBack® or similar hydration system is allowed.  Be prepared to get wet if it is raining.  A rain suit is always a good item to have, even in the desert.
