More about Cybertoad...
The
Basics:
I was born and raised
in Houston, Texas and love it! It's a great city with
a lot of hidden spots to check out. And did you realize that
it's the 4th largest city in the United States? If you ever want
to visit, I can tell you where to go. Check out these impressive
facts about Houston or read our local newspaper, the Houston
Chronicle.
My background
is Cuban-American. My parents left Cuba in 1968 and finally settled
in Houston in 1971 with my sister - I came around a couple of
years later to complete the family. As a result, my first language
was Spanish and I have continued to stay fluent. I also studied
4 years of French and am able to read it and understand it spoken
(but only if it's spoken slowly)! Click here to see a few pictures
of me and my family.
I went to college at
Texas A&M University in little old College Station where
after 3 degree changes and 5 years I graduated with a B.A. in
International Studies, Latin American Option in 1996. Several
of my trips were made while at A&M through university sponsored
programs - one of the best ways to get some traveling done at
low costs while earning university credits.
I also married a computer engineer
whom I met here in Houston in October 1998. His name is Kenny
and happens to be an Aggie as well. We spent our honeymoon
in Europe.

Recent News:
More recently we bought our 1st
home
(April 2002), traveled to London (09/03) and celebrated
our 5th wedding anniversary in Boston (10/03). Also, after 3
job losses in only two years, I hope that I can finally settle
down in my current position as an assistant to a professor/department
director at a local university. I also intend to go back to school
since I am working right there on campus and pursue a graduate
degree (probably an MBA). I hope to start this in the Fall of
2004.
Other Interests:
I enjoy blogging, photography (especially black and white), traveling, surfing the internet,
basic web-design, reading, spending time with friends, going
out to dinner, exercising my Spanish, maintaining my 30-gal.
tropical fish tank, organizing social events, listening to music
(all kinds), spending time with my husband and napping
with my miniature dachshund, Ginger and our recent addition,
Heidi, a cockapoo (part Cocker Spaniel, part poodle).
