Schedule for Saturday, December 14, 2002

Fourth (and Last!) Field Show Tournament of the Season!
Santa Barbara Battle of the Bands
Santa Barbara High School

Wednesday - After-school practice from 3:30 to 5:00.
Thursday - After-school practice from 3:30 to 5:00.
Friday - (Possible practice before the bus leaves for the Coliseum). This will depend on the progress we have made during the week. The progress we make during the week will be detemined by the effort that each person puts into it.
5:00    Leave for the Coliseum.
11:30    Return from Coliseum. GO HOME AND GET SOME SLEEP!
Friday night after the game: Make sure the band room is clean, with the chairs and stands put away. All drums, large instruments, hat boxes, and other equipment will be placed in the center of the band room for easy access the next morning.
 
9:30 Arrive at Taft (wearing red Taft Music shirts.) Put uniforms and instruments on the bus and vans.
10:00 Leave for Santa Barbara
11:30 Arrive Santa Barbara.
Visit the booths, get some lunch, watch another band.
12:15 Go to bus and change into uniforms. Get out equipment and instruments.
12:45 Warm-up area. Last minute check for equipment (Reeds, valve oil, etc.)
1:15 Arrive at staging area (Three minute gate). Make sure everyone is ready to take the field.
1:30 Deploy to the field. Parents bring mallet instruments to the front. Set out short flags at edge of field. Flags, winds, and percussion face away from judges platform, play warm up.
1:30 Announcer: "Taft High School you have three minutes."
1:32 Announcer: "Taft High School you have one minute."
1:33 Announcer: "Taft High School the judges are waiting."
1:33 Perform! Keep the spirits high. This is our last show. Make it count. Watch those horn angles. Play to the top of the stands. Flags, keep those faces up and smile! Make every step count. Stay focused. Show your Taft Pride and Spirit.
1:44 Exit the field. Timing stops when the last performer leaves the field. Continue marching in two lines to the picture area. Even though the official judging is over when the last performer leaves the field, keep your lines straight, heads up, and winning attitude all the way to the picture area. Remember, you are still "on stage" until you leave the entire field.
1:45 All personnel and equipment must be off the field. NO SOUND.
2:00 Take picture
2:15 Return to bus. Change out of uniforms. Put away all hats, plumes, shoes. Put uniforms back on hangers, and lay them over the seats. Everyone helps put away the drums and other equipment.
2:45 Free time until award ceremony.
3:15 Officers assemble at staging area for award ceremony.
3:30 Award ceremony.
4:30 Return to bus. leave for Taft HS.
6:00 Arrive THS. Unload all equipment. Take home uniforms and shoes. We will use them again next weekend for the Candy Cane Lane performance and the Universal Parade.

Parents! We need as many parents and family members to come as possible. Admission prices are $6.00 for adults, $4.00 for students and senior citizens. It is probable that the policy will be similar to previous events. This is our last competition, so let's get a sizable number of Taft parents, friends, and family members to show support for their students. Wear a red shirt. Driving directions from Yahoo.com
