Reviews of Down the Road I'll Go.

Review from the French country music magazine, Le Cri du Coyote, Revue de Musiques Américaines, No. 98, Avril-Mai, 2007.

Review from the Belgian site: Rootstime

(mandokaz)

Since my Dutch is non-existent (except for cognates, guesses, and a little German) I put the text through Babelfish, just for fun. And Fun it is.

Curt Bouterse are a muzikant and instrument builder whom from the rich tradition of its musical family can draw. He plays on banjos on this CD itself-built, or "pace" such as he them calls in apparte tweevinger style. Pace fretless and the preamble of the later bano are. It are especially traditional numbers which are taken into consideration with a sober accompaniment but Bouterse succeed in nevertheless sufficient bringing alternation between the different numbers, also through the use of the dulcimer and the autoharp. The largest surprise is however that on this CD the "Seneca Square dance" stand, a traditional number which is had here of the film "The lung Riders" with the music of Ry Cooder. And what proves to be: this sir Bouterse cooperated in the soundtrack of the film and played on for this number Chinese (!) hammerd dulcimer (in Dutch: hakkebord, with snaren stretch flat box where the snaren with hammertjes are started). 10 of the 18 numbers traditionals with among other things "Handsome Molly" are and "Scoldin' Wife" that of Derroll Adams do think, "Pretty Polly" and a very original implementation of "Angelina nurse/Sally Goodin". For the liefhebbers of old-time and folk this a succeeded CD is.

Everyone has guilty pleasures. I know how hard it is to communicate between individuals but I am innocently amused by the frequency with which we fail. Translation raises the stakes immeasurably. We all have smiled at the awkward instructions for an imported product and since I enjoy words so much, I laugh aloud frequently. I ran my Dutch review back through the process several times: English-Dutch, Dutch-English, English-Dutch, Dutch-English, etc.

Concise Bouterse are a muzikant and instrument builder whom of the rich tradition of its musical family can draw. He plays on banjos on this zelf-gebouwdcd, or "tempo" since he asks in fretless tempos of the finger style them to apparte two and the introduction of the more recent banjo is. It is especially traditional numbers of which with moderate accompaniment phenomenon phenomenon a phenomenon is considered but Bouterse succeed in niettemin sufficiently bringing alternation between the different numbers, also through the use of dulcimer and autoharp. The largest surprise is nochtans that on this vierkant CD the dancing "platform" of Seneca, a traditional number of of of that are had here of the film the "lung riders" with music of Ry Cooder. And what proves be is: this Lord Bouterse cooperated in the sound-track of the film and played for this number of Chinese (!) hammerd dulcimer (in Dutch: hakkebord, with snaren rack flat box where with hammertjes snaren have started). 10 of 18 aantallentraditionals with among other things "nice Molly" is and "Scoldin ' woman" that of Derroll Adams, "beautiful Polly" and a very original implementation of "nurse thinks Angelina/Sally Goodin". For liefhebbers of of weleer and popular this next CD. is

Interestingly, it made the voyage from Dutch to French to English with few problems.

Curt Bouterse is one muzikant and the manufacturer of instrument which can draw from the rich tradition of its musical family. It plays of the banjos on this built CD, or "ramble" as it them calls in a apparte the style of finger ramble fretless and the precursor of the later banjo are. It is the especially traditional numbers which are taken into account with a sober accompaniment but Bouterse however succeeds in bringing sufficient alternation between the different numbers, also by the use of the dulcimer and of the autoharp. The greatest surprise is however that on this CD, "Seneca Square dance" is, a traditional number which is known here film "The Riders lung" with the music of Ry Cooder. And what appears: this Mr Bouterse cooperated with the soundtrack of film and played for this number one (! Chinese) of hammerd dulcimer (in Dutch: a hakkebord, with the snaren revêtx the box punt with which the snaren with hammertjes are started). 10 of the 18 numbers traditionals with inter alia the "Molly uncle" is and "Scoldin" Wife "this with Derroll Adams makes think," Pretty Polly "and a very original execution" of Angelina garde/Sally Goodin ". For the liefhebbers of old-time and folk, this successful CD is.

And Dutch-French-Italian-English retained most but the titles, with occasional words, like passport stamps, showing where it had been.

Curt Bouterse is muzikant and a producer of instrument that can reach in the rich tradition of its musical family. It plays of the banjos on this constructed CD, or "redazza" as they call apparte in a finger style redazza fretless and the premonitory one of the banjo ulterior it is Is the above all traditional numbers that are taken in consideration with a sobrio accompanyment but Bouterse succeeds however to carry the sufficient alternative between the various numbers, therefore by means of I use it of dulcimer and the autoharp. The greatest surprise is however that on this CD, "Seneca Square dance" it is found, a traditional number that is known here of the film "The poumon Riders" with music of Ry Cooder. And and this appears: this Mr. Bouterse has cooperated to the soundtrack of the film and has played for this number one (! Chinese) of hammerd dulcimer (in Dutch: hakkebord, with snaren revêtx the box flat it with which the snaren with hammertjes they are taken start). 10 of the 18 numbers traditionals with between the other "tonton Molly" are and "Scoldin" Wife "this to Derroll Adams makes to think," Pretty Polly "and an execution a lot originates them" of Angelina conserva/Sally Goodin "." For the liefhebbers of old-Time and the folk, this a successful CD is.

It was clearly unfair to expect it to keep up with Dutch-French-Greek-French-German-French-Portuguese-English. (I wanted to go straight from Greek to German to Portuguese but Babel doesn't fish like that.)

The Curt Bouterse is that also it of the instrument that it manufactures that it can take off in the rich delivery of its musical family. This Banjo plays, to the DS it is constructed, or vadrouille, as ayto ' is calls in the style apparte the finger vadrouille fretless and the later predecessor is Banjo.' They are the particularly traditional numerations that are taken in consideration with an additive clearly, Bouterse are however successfully against all, so that they more so lead to dulcimer the satisfactory change between the other numerations, the use, and autoharp. The maximum surprise is any it who to the this DS, the "Seneca meets place dances, a traditional numeration whose film" The Riders lung with music Ry Cooder has knowledge "here". E to that appears: this Mr. Bouterse has parts soundtrack the film cooperated and to this numeration a Chinese (he played) of more dulcimer (njerlandais in: hakkebord with snaren revktx the plain box lesquel snaren with hammertjes starts it). 10,18 Numerations traditionals with appointedly "Molly uncles is also" a Scoldin Wife of "this to a small bread of Adam it can be thought, Pretty Polly" and a very initial Angelina-Ausfuehrung keeps-no/Sally Goodin. For liefhebbers old-teams and folk that it DS receives are.
