Walnut Grove Bluegrass Band

Walnut Grove Bluegrass Band

Walnut Grove Bluegrass Band was formed in the year 2000 with two original members, Allen Russell on lead guitar, mandolin and vocals, from Covington, GA and Jim (Pop) Howard of Covington, GA on vocals. Pop left the band in early Nov. 2003. In 2001 three new members joined the band: Bear Adams of Covington, GA on bass, guitar and vocals, John Rice of Covington, GA on banjo, mandolin and backup vocals, and seventeen-year-old Sam Grier of Tucker, GA on fiddle, mandolin, guitar and backup vocals.

The band also features fifteen-year-old twin brothers Jacob and John Rice Jr. Jacob plays upright bass and John Jr. plays fiddle. These boys are wonderful with their God-given talent, and are the pride and joy of the band.

We have played many local events including radio and television shows. We travel to other states to play at churches and festivals. We have a song that is going to be in a movie currently being filmed, at this time titled “Who Nose?” Our music was featured on a Governor Roy Barnes television commercial that aired statewide in 2002. We are being played on radio stations in several states and in other countries including Canada, Holland, France & in the Persian Gulf. We have had the privilege to have performed on numerous shows with some of the best in Bluegrass such as Rhonda Vincent, James King and Dave Evans to name a few.
