Workshops geared for children aged 10-15 will be offeredby the CAC's expert Teaching Artists in a variety of creative art forms on these Wednesdays: July 13th, 20th, and 27th, from 2 - 4 pm. The cost is $10 per workshop - which includes all materials - or $8 for CAC members; pre-registration is required at the CAC. Call 770-949-2787 for more information. |

6/6 - 7/18/2005 (no class during week following the Fourth of July)Learn to create movies using clay figures and found objects such as Barbies and G.I. Joes. Have you ever wondered how movies such as Chicken Run, Wallace and Grommet, and Gumby were created? This class teaches you the basics that you need to know to make your own claymation and stop-action movie.
$90 for 6 sessions plus an estimated $10 for materials (all students must bring a video camera and tape to participate).

Music Together is a research-based, developmentally appropriate curriculum developed by the Center for Music and Young Children in Princeton, New Jersey. Incorporating playful activities and caregiver participation, Music Together is an informal way of experiencing music, singing, rhythm chants and movement while having lots of fun! Activities focus on the children, while showing caregivers how to be musical and helping them to nurture their childrens' natural love of music.$135 for the eight-week session includes all materials (professionally recorded CD & cassette tape, illustrated songbook, instruments & musical props provided)

French Impressionist Style Oil Painting for Adults

We will learn the French Impressionist masters' techniques and discover the power of color and composition in oil paintings.$55 for six sessions, plus an additional $50-$70 in materials including paint, brushes, palette and easel.
Watercolor Painting for Adults

Learn the basics of watercolor ~ brush strokes, washes, paper sizing, and more! Our instructor studied watercolor in the style of Charles Reid and worked with noted painter Janet Fish. STAINED GLASS with MACK PORTER (for adults)

6/4/2005 - 7/16/2005 (no class on Fourth of July weekend)It's back! Adults and advanced high school students will learn to design and create a stained glass panel with individualized assistance during this excellent introduction to the art of stained glass at the Wynn Building. Instruction will include design, cutting, fitting and construction of glass panels. The class covers awareness of styles of stained glass, i.e. classical, art nouveau, art deco, Victorian, modern and abstract.
$75.00 for six sessions plus an estimated $60 for materials (due at the first class).

MOSAIC TABLE MAKING WORKSHOP with HELEN HEDWIG

PRINT MAKING WORKSHOP FOR KIDS with MARIANA DEPETRIS
(for students 9 - 12 years old)
Wednesday & Thursday, 4 7 pm
June 1st & June 2ndIn this two-session workshop students will explore the world of relief printmaking by creating stamps first, then an actual block using different tools and gauges. We will focus on working with values and contrast. Each student will finish by printing a small edition that will be collated and bound into a small book. We will decorate the books with exotic papers and beads. At the end of class we will bind all of their work into a book.
$75 for the two-session workshop plus a materials fee of $15 (due at the first class).

4/13 - 5/17/2005Learn how to paint murals working from historical photographs of our hometown with expert illustrator Joseph Falligan. The series of murals created by participating young artists will be installed in vacant storefronts of the historic downtown district in a project sponsored by the Downtown Development Authority.

4/15 5/20/2005Children will join one of Hunter Park's most popular instructors for a creative experience drawing with charcoals, pastel and pens, painting with watercolor and tempera, and learning about cartooning, telling a story in pictures. Elements of composition, color, texture and scale will be explored.

BEGINNING IN CLAY with HELEN HEDWIG
(for students 7 - 10 years old)
Tuesdays, 4 -5:30 p.m.
4/12 - 5/16/2005Helen Helwig's students will learn a variety of sculpture and hand-building techniques using stoneware clay. This is a fun and easy class with a material (clay) that is exciting and satisfying to use. We will create slab bowls with textural and stamping techniques. We will create small sculptures using modeling and carving methods. Small jewelry pieces and beads are easy to make using these clay techniques. After the pieces are created and dried, they will be fired in a kiln. Then the students will learn glazing techniques to finish their clay pieces.
$60 for the six-week session includes materials
