Riverside’s Cub Scout Pack 97

Cub Scout Pack 97 serves boys and their families from the greater Orangecrest, Woodcrest, and Mission Grove Areas of Riverside, California.

Cub Scouting serves boys in the First through Fifth grades and provides boys with many opportunities to learn about our world, experience handicrafts, and spend quality time with their parents. Cub Scout Pack 97 takes part in family camping, pine wood derby, rain gutter regatta, day camps, Lincoln Pilgrimage Parade, Webelos Summer Camp, Camp Wiley, Klondike Derby camping, food drives, and more. Boys have opportunities to earn achievement awards as they experience the Cub Scout program.

Riverside's Cub Scout Pack 97 meets once a month from 7:00 to 8:15 pm. Starting soon, meetings move to the last Friday of the each month at the East Hills Community Church, 20660 Orange Terrace Parkway, Riverside, CA 92508. MOre information to follow!

The Pack primarily serves the First through Fifth Grade students in the Tomás Rivera Elementary School, the Benjamin Franklin Elementary School, the John F. Kennedy Elementary School, and the new Mark Twain Elementary School.

Cub Scout Packs traditionally consists of Tiger Cubs (1st Grade), Wolf Cub Scouts (2nd Grade), Bear Cub Scouts (3rd Grade), 1st year Webelos Scouts (4th Grade), 2nd year Webelos Scouts (5th Grade). The composition of the pack varies yearly and needs new boys and parents interested in Scouting. Recruiting programs in the Summer provide information to parents about Scouting opportunities in the Pack.

Some of the key Pack activities are the Webelos Woods camp out (Fourth and Fifth Graders) at Camp Helendade in Running Springs in the Fall, the Cub Scout Klondike camp out in Winter, the Lincoln Pilgrimage Parade in Redlands in February, and the Pinewood Derby in the Spring. The Pack has also held Rain Gutter Regattas and additional family camping opportunities in the Spring. Summer camping opportunities are available through the California Inland Empire Council of the BSA as well as Day Camp opportunities for the younger Cub Scouts. The current Pack activity schedule is posted on the website Calendar page. There are additional opportunities for Scout events such as the Good Turn for America, and other Council and District sponsored events.

Boys meet weekly in Den meetings to accomplish objectives of their respective age-appropriate programs. Dens meet at various times and locations – usually in a Den leader’s home - throughout the Orangecrest, Woodcrest, and Mission Grove areas of Riverside. The Cub Scout Pack takes part in community and scouting activities such as the annual Lincoln Pilgrimage Parade held in Redlands during the month of February. Pack Committee meetings are open to all parents and leaders in the Pack. The Committee meets about one week prior to the monthly Pack meeting and the location is usually the Pack Committee Chair's home.
