Panda Bear

Today's big outing was to the Chongqing Zoo. We saw the red pandas, which are in the raccoon family. Then on to the giant pandas, which are in the bear family. A hippo feeding was followed by a trip to see the spider monkeys

Art Research Institute

After the zoo, we stopped at the Chongqing Art Research Institute, sponsored by the local university. This is one of the top three art centers in China. Following a short introduction to local art, rice paper, and painting techniques, we toured the gallery. Chongqing is known for their "Four Seasons" paintings and Banyan leaf paintings. We purchased a set of seasons paintings and Banyan leaves for Abigail as a keepsake from her first home.

On our return trip, we stopped by the Wal-Mart again. This time fifteen Caucasian families strolled into Wally World with fifteen beautiful Chinese babies. We literally brought Wal-Mart to a screeching stop. Another bag of diapers, more water, and one can of Coke Light (we had cleaned them out earlier this week) and we were on our way.

We will spend the rest of the day for bonding. We have two days left in Abigail's home.
