Martin McCarty is the kind of student who gets along with everyone—until he begins his first day at Diablo Valley High, a nightmarish school where students cower under the tyranny of a real-life monster, the evil Principal Spyr. It’s a place, Martin soon discovers, where "you plant hope, but no hope is what grows."

But Martin also discovers that there is a way out for him: if he can prove his courage in a daring midnight raid, he’ll get to escape to a world that is beyond his wildest dreams. It’s a world that not only tests his talent and ingenuity but leads to his uncovering a terrible secret, and—in a final dramatic confrontation—helps him choose the future course of his life.

Written in the tradition of such classic adventure stories as Journey to the Center of the Earth, Treasure Island, and The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, Lockerboy is a powerful tale with an unforgettable—and surprising—ending.

I'm not telling, but it's an amazing trip you won't soon forget." (Ben Fong-Torres, author, broadcaster, and former editor at Rolling Stone magazine)
