Within the Arizona Division, there exists an honorary society which honors our ancestors
who served in the mounted arm of the Confederate Army. Conceived by Compatriot Ed Porter, membership in the Society
of the Sons of the Sabre is open to any descendant of a Confederate horse soldier, be he a cavalryman, a mounted infantryman
or a horse artilleryman. Even descendants of horse Marines are eligible. Membership is not restricted to the Arizona
Division but is open to any SCV member in good standing.
The Society has no officers, no annual dues and no meetings. There is a one-time
initiation fee of $10.00 to cover administrative costs. The Society exists solely to memorialize the
legacy of the Confederate horse soldier and is an honorary society within the context of the Arizona Division.
