 Membership in the Sons of Confederate Veterans is open to
male descendants, lineal or collateral, of those who served honorably in the Armed Forces of the Confederacy. Proof
of service is required. One must also trace his kinship. Proof of service may be a copy of service records from
the National or state archives, a copy of a muster roll listing his name or an entry in the National Park Service Data Base. A mention in official records or obituary listing Confederate service are also proof.
Genealogy may be listed on standard "family tree" forms.
Assistance in your genealogical search is available. Contact the Arizona Division Genealogist for help. Another source is the website Footnote.com. This site provides access to a number of records sources including the National Archives. One may subscribe
to the service or purchase documents by the page. Click on the link above for access.
Dues and fees include the total of the National, Division and Camp dues. Additionally,
a $5.00 recording fee is charged to first time applicants. The total fees for the Arizona Division and its Camps are:
National per capita tax: $30.00

* Note that Camps 1647, 2127 and 2316 do not have dues at this time.
A membership application form may be obtained by contacting (click here) the Division Recruiting Officer. Please provide your name, mailing address and telephone number.
You may also download an application (click here). Follow the instructions on this website. You can complete this application, print it and send it to the
Camp you wish to join. Include a copy of the proof of service for your ancestor, your genealogical link to him and your
check or money order payable to the Camp ($47.50--$42.50 for Camps 1647,2127 and 2316).
DO NOT send applications to SCV General HQ. Arizona Camps are listed
below. The Camp name is also an email link to the Camp Adjutant.
At the National Convention held in New Orleans in August, 2006, the SCV adopted a "Cadet
membership" program. Cadet membership is open to young men from birth to age 12 who are otherwise qualified for SCV
membership. Dues are $10.00 per annum. The Cadet membership program is at the individual Camp's option and not
all Camps have adopted it. Contact the Camp in which you are interested to verify if that Camp does have a Cadet membership
program. Cadet members may elect to become full members on reaching age 12.
Several Arizona Camps have "Associate Member" programs for those who either do not have
the requisite documentation of their ancestor's service or who are not descendants. Associate Member status can be converted
to full membership once the requisite documentation is made available. Contact the individual Camp for Associate Membership
requirements.
