Carol was on the team that designed and implemented this site as a student project at North Seattle Community College and was subsequently chosen to maintain it through an internship. Tools used included Photoshop 5.5 and Dreamweaver 3.0.
Volunteering for her neighborhood, Carol designed and implemented this Web site for the community. This effort has a wider scope than the school project in that a domain name was registered, a web hosting service contracted, and much more research went into obtaining content. As a final project for her Java class, Carol coded her own 'browser', with a favorites list (populated at startup by a file which can be modified through the browser), a history list, and the ability to go forward, back and home. As an assignment for her Web-scripting class, Carol wrote an application that 1) prompts the user to either login or obtain a new account, 2) provides a form for new account information, 3) automatically generates passwords, 4) creates a new account on the server, 5) validates user logging in, and 6) once logged in, a table is displayed showing all the other users with active sessions in the ASP application. The college collaborated with artist Hank Curci in creating a project for students in Web Site Design and Development. Mr. Curci provided the images and format of the site, while the students colored the images in Photoshop, created a Flash home page, and coded all of its functionality. This site is data driven, and uses an ASP application as well as JavaScript. Carol designed the database (SQLServer) and wrote ASP scripts accessing the database. |
