Welcome to our Web Site. This site allows you to see some of the work we have done since 1984. We change the images from time to time, so we encourage you to visit us again.

The Orchid Ranch

Maui, Hawaii

A new home, with a Polynesian flair to capture the views and cooling breezes, sits on a long narrow site in up-country Maui. Broad overhangs and a soaring roof give shelter during the daily rains.

The Day Residence

Aptos, California

Damaged in the '89 quake, structural repairs, remodel of the kitchen and dining areas, and addition of a new living room have created more living space for the family, and brought this home back to life.

The Lange Residence

Santa Cruz, California

This home finds its true character in the monterey style. Replacing the thin stucco arches along the entry walk with hefty wood posts and beams provides a simple dignity. Inside, the fireplace is remodeled to evoke the smooth curves of white washed adobe, with a rough hewn sandstone hearth.

The McKinney Residence

Santa Cruz, California

A remodel and addition to a classic California bungalow, responding to the needs of a growing family. A new bedroom suite steps down and reaches out to bring in sunlight, views, and create a relaxed flow into the backyard garden.

Hidden Valley Residence

Watsonville, California

This remodel / addition projectresponds to the site by opening up to a stunning view and beautiful country side. The home was transformed from a box that turned it's back on the landscape into a gracious craftsman style home by redesigning the floor plan and introducing a rich palette of natural materials and classic design details.

A Seabright Cottage

Santa Cruz, California

A Study in Before and After

This remodel and addition project transforms a plain

stucco box into an

open plan craftsman cottage. This small house on a tiny lot reaches out and up to provide more living space within the tight constraints of very restrictive zoning requirements.

You can see by the plan diagrams to the right that the building footprint was increased by only 164 square feet. The improvement was quite dramatic, however, as the volume of the house increased to allow in more light and air. A loft space and attic were also designed into the solution to provide more living and storage areas.

Ross Street Residence

Santa Cruz, California

A modest kitchen remodel and dining room addition creates this comfortable center for family activities. The tall ceiling, sunny window seat, and clerestory windows make this a spacious, well lit place that works well for a wide range of uses.
