i have put together all the software, all the instructions even a sample video for you guys to watchmovies on the c-1000. Current setup 320-240 resolution at 29fps audio anywhere from 64kbps to 128 to 160 at any khertz. sync and fullframe view. fastforward or rewind not a problem. you can carry a full star wars movie in 120mb file with excellent audio and video. i need some comments to make it better since i don't know what else to do. Im also adding a section for people who dual between sl5500 and c-xxxx so you wont have to carry 2 videos of the same movies around. Just getting lazy i guess.

small update/////please redownload kino2.appearantly, i did not anticipate prblems with wide screeen so all you need to do is either redownload the kino2 file or.......

use this instruction

This is very important in the way you install. If you screw up, uninstall the files i gaved you and reboot system. Reinstall again

this is for the
c1000 c3000 c3100

not for the c-700's or 800's
or systems with patched kernal's

install in this order to internal drive without exiting the installer program.

1. bvdd_0[1].4.0-1_arm.ipk
2. mplayer-bvdd_1[1].1.5-1_arm.ipk
3. kino2_0.4.2p20_arm.ipk

then exit the install program and you will be prompted to reboot. if it doesnt happen, reboot.

after the system reboots, open up kino2.
in file->prefferences->general->advanced options->options for mplayer
enter "-vm -fs" without quotes.

under video tab in prefferences make sure you only have a check mark under,
-drop frames
-direct access to frame buffer
-enable double buffering
-enable smar tcrop
-rotate video automaticaly
-use External Video Memory
-use pxa27x (bvdd) overlay"

hit okay then close kino2 and reboot(not necessery but i did it). now your ready to rock and roll!!!

to test the operation of your new found power, test out the performance by downloading a low res(320x240 roughly) video from this location and play it on the zuarus

go to this page http://webpages.charter.net/cresho/

and right click and save the video file.

then go to this page to learn how to create movies from your dvd homemade collection or other.

Some NOtes:

if your running the stock sharprom, you will be fine. if your running the special kernal(dont worry if you didnt patch it), look elsewere.

I noticed that some other videos crashed my system pretty good. after a recovery, mplayer is locked and is not able to play videos. the easiest thing to do is reboot and don't play the file. rebooting fixes the locked mplayer(well from my perspective but who knows what's really going on right?)and play your normally created files. Just a hint for you guys.

I put up a new tutorial. This one is fraggy's. It is sweet and works with mplayer. For all you AutoGK user's, this will be a treat. check it out in the video section. a tutorial on using the mplayer for the zaurus will follow soon.

I updated the site with a 4 to 3 aspect ratio. So now you can view movies on your sd card. There are 1gb sd cards available from sandisk but i havent tried it myself or don't think they work well since i had some bad expiriences with them a while back. Lexar and pny seem to do fine. PNY (depending what type) seem to run slower.

I have been asked many times about conversion from one type of file to a video viewable on the zaurus.

the best answer i can come up with ( and ill soon post a tutorial using a free program) is to convert your current divx, quicktime, or any type to mpeg2 dvd quality and follow through the updated tutorial starting with vidomi and following through virtualdubmpeg2. The page and links is currently being created but i still need to do a little more researching before i place these items up for viewing..

Another update- It seems that i messed up one of my tutorials. The previous problem during conversion of your home dvd's was not noticable but if you have an mpeg2 from a cam, then you would notice a sound distortion. So please update your methods by removing the checkmark "dynamic range compression under audio properties under vidomi Encoder. Reffer to new upated tutorial and view audio property jpeg image for refference.

Thanks!

Just updated my site- just spell checked a few things. I will mention the mpeg2 tutorial is coming along badly. I have had no time to look for tools or read suggestions from other people. At them moment, I do have the capability to encode a dvd video to mpeg2 viewable in the zaurus but the only problem i find here is Iam using my proffesional tools which i don't have available to me readily. The cost of purchasing a divx player like tkcvideo for 20 bucks vs a 900 dollar video software editor is not justified. I am looking on the net for something i can use that is free. This is what the site is about- Free.

I just updated the video section of this site. the new divx tutorial for zaurus is up and running. even though it says 16to9, you can still use those settings for all other aspect ratios but ill optimize new vcf files later for virtualmod. Email me if you have some questions concerning anything. the final file by the way is....320x480 or depending on source with 19fps and audio at 160kbps at 48000 frequency. matrix reloaded fits around 289 with no audio synchronization misses.

okay! I had one problem with a certain video that was a tad choppy with a certain dvd. the aspect ratio was 16 to 9 and Idecided to look into this further. I added new Values to the section of xvid. now it should play extremely smooth even in the hottest and fast motion scenes.

November 14, 2003

Good news for everyone! i just added a new section to the video. It now has tutorial for xvid. and now you can view movies at 320x240 at 30fps with excellent audio sound. Give it a try and send me some feedback.

Hi! I havent done too much to the site. So I'll make this short-read tutorial because it has been edited and there is an audio fix so you can reduce audio bitrate to an even smaller size probably saving you a good 25mb of extra space.
