Going North West past Abby St Clair and turning left led us to this cross in the early afternoon of August 9th. 1944. TF Hogan turned left and started up the sunken road toward the road junction known as 272, passing through the 12th Infantry Regimant of the 4th. Infantry Division, who were driven back each time they tried to advance. Their words were, You are on your own, Keep low and keep fireing.
