THE START OF A NEW ERA
Greg Garcia, a Gilroy High School alumni, was named the new head coach at Gilroy High School on April
22, 2009.
Coach Garcia, who was born and raised in Gilroy, is the son of Clara and John Garcia also of Gilroy. Greg
has been married to Christina for the past four years and they have a beautiful 30 month old daughter, Avery.
Coach Garcia has been an assistant coach at GHS for the past eight years. Before that he served
as an assistant coach at Gavilan Junior College in Gilroy.
Coach Garcia is excited about the new challenge telling the Gilroy Dispatch, "I feel great about it.
It's going to be an easy transition for the kids; nothing is changing. I'm trying to keep full chemistry within our
staff."
