Chase, the Jack Russell Terrier, came along at the correct time in our lives. She is "one of us"  and accompanies us everywhere. Chase, like all Jack Russells, is very active and enjoys all aspects of farm life. She especially enjoys playing with the miniature horses but now avoids the mules and donkeys after a number of close calls

The unique personality of the Jack Russell Terrier is capturing the hearts of many, but they are not a dog for everyone. The JRT was bred to be a hunting dog and city, apartment or confined, sedate lifestyles do not meet the needs of this feisty little terrier. These dogs require an extraordinary amount of exercise, outdoor activity and human attention. They must receive firm, consistent training and their owners need to understand they can be bold to a fault. JRTs can be very aggressive with other dogs and, because they are a hunting dog, should not be trusted with other small animals such as cats, ferrets, gerbils, guinea pigs, etc. I would strongly encourage anyone considering the purchase of a JRT to consult the Jack Russell Terrier Club of America web site. The JRTCA is very honest about the attributes of this wonderful little terrier. A Jack Russell Terrier can not be surpassed as a companion in the proper home.
