Johnson & Johnson will be allowed to market an artificial spinal disk in the U.S. as a new form of treatment for people with severe lower back pain. permalink: comments: feedURL:http://www.nytimes.com/services/xml/rss/nyt/Health.xml My job is still safe (pain management) ;) This is a good alternative for selective patients already on track for surgery who have single level disease in the lumbar region. I do have to agree that it will take a while for this procedure to take off since many surgeons are not proficient with this technique. This is another argument to wait a little longer for surgery as surgeons prefect their techniques in implantation. |
