Race-Specific Medicine?

In a development that may change the way people receive medical care, a new medicine has been shown to dramatically reduce deaths among blacks with heart failure. Some feel uncomfortable with the concept of ethnic-specific medicine.

Although it might make some uncomfortable, if good science points to some medications working better in some ethnicities, then there should be no qualms about using this knowledge. Granted, ethnicities are often gradations, knowing that if some class of medications is not working as efficaciously in someone who, for example is partly African-American, then it would not be unreasonable to try a medication targeted to that ethnicity.
