Psalm 31:7 "I will rejoice and be glad in Your lovingkindness, Because You have seen my affliction; You have known the troubles of my soul,"
Let me ask you something. Do you have this heart right now in any circumstance you might be in? Do you have the will to choose to rejoice and be glad in His lovingkindness even if it feels like you’re in the worst place you could be in?
Our troubles can seem so huge and over taking. The pains of our heart can become so enlarged that we no longer seem to be able to reason it through logically or realistically. It can be a fight to make sense of what is reality and what is not.
We may feel that no one understands what we are thinking. We may even think that if anyone knew how we truly felt they would shun us for even thinking that way because Christians don't think like that in the first place.
Rest assured Jesus knows exactly how we feel and the troubles of our heart deeper than we can even imagine. This verse says, "...You have known the troubles of my soul." He knows and we can believe and trust that He knows what the true facts are. This knowing is the deepest intimacy of relationship between God and his creation.
It is in its deepest sense a perfect picture of a husband to his wife in the most intimate sense of relationship. So once we come to believe that as a fact we can then rest assured that He is in control and fully capable of getting us through to the finish line. He will bring us safely across immediately to the other side past the storms life brings at us.
So now that we have the facts we can direct our hearts and our wills to His gloriously awesome presence and peace. We can through His grace and power say, "I will rejoice and be glad in Your lovingkindness." We can say, “I choose right now to trust in You Oh Lord my redeemer.
There is a great song out that was written by Matt and Beth Redman called "Blessed Be Your Name (1)." The chorus of the song says, "Blessed be the name of the Lord, Blessed be Your name, Blessed be the name of the Lord, Blessed be Your glorious name."
I like the last part of the song, which falls under the chorus and says, "You give and take away, You give and take away, My heart will choose to say, Lord, blessed be Your name." That’s the part my heart needs to hear. We may need to say out loud, “My heart will choose to still say, “Lord, Blessed be Your name” no matter what the circumstance.
We can choose to bless the name of the Lord and sometimes that means going to the facts of His Word which lead us to the facts of His faithful love toward us. Then His Holy Spirit fills us to be able to fully rejoice and be glad in His lovingkindness.
Did you need to hear that today? I know I do from time to time. We serve a wonderful God who has a plan and will be faithful to complete it in each and every one of us. Today make a choice to rejoice and be glad in the wonderful love of Jesus. Have a blessed week.
In His Wonderful Name,
Adam
