"The LORD is my strength and my shield; My heart trusts in Him, and I am helped; Therefore my heart exults, And with my song I shall thank Him." Psalm 28:7
Here is a reminder I want you to say to yourself right now wherever you are in this great big wide world: "My heart trusts in Him..." Did you say it? Ok, now do you believe that with all your heart? Does your heart fully trust in Him?
This is a good place to start our day, by just simply trusting our hearts and lives to Jesus. How else do we expect to order our day aright before the world in front of us? Sometimes we get so caught up in the busyness of life that we forget to just trust in Him.
Recently my son was riding his bike when a family had taken their dog off the lease near our house and it ended up going after our son and giving him a pretty good bite on the calve of his leg. It left four nasty puncture wounds and he had to go to the doctor to get a booster tetanus shot.
He was current on his shots but they gave him the booster just to be sure. Sometimes we need a booster shot of grace to remind us of the Lord's faithful hand upon our lives. It is kind of like a booster tetanus shot, it is just a reminder to let us be sure He is with us, around us and in us.
Sometimes things happen to us like a deep cut in our hand or a dog bites us or some other testing trial of life happens. We may have had a tetanus shot several years ago but a trip to the doctor seems to get us another one of those nice little shots that will give us a booster to protect us against getting tetanus from the rust or dirty soil or the germs that would infect us.
It doesn't invalidate the original shot that is supposed to have a life span of ten years. Sometimes our Christian lives are like this. We find our hearts get huge cuts in them; we ourselves start to get infected with doubt or unbelief that God isn’t working in our lives.
So we need to take a trip to God's gracious presence for a faith booster. Actually this shot is a wonderful shot right to the heart. This booster starts with trust. Trusting or if you're like me this could mean re-trusting Him to take care of the situations at hand.
Where does trusting start? It starts with our hearts simply listening and responding to the Lord's tender voice. He always speaks tenderly to us. Sometimes it is just a simple question: "Do you trust me?"
The answer is simple yet can be compounded with all sorts of distortions and lies from the enemy. We all know the answer to be yes but sometimes the Lord will speak to our hearts in His still small voice, "Do YOU trust me? The answer is one of the heart.
Often we may say that we trust to others but in our hearts we my have feelings of unbelief and doubt. This is not unbelief for salvation but rather unbelief that God will hear and answer you. It is in these moments when we choose to trust with our heart that God may well choose to show you Himself in a miraculous way. Choose to trust in Him with your heart, with all your heart (Prov 3:5-6).
Back to Basics -Trust,
Adam
It is my prayer that you would be encouraged in your day-to-day walk and that you would be in the word everyday.
