"But He was pierced through for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; The chastening for our well-being fell upon Him, And by His scourging we are healed." Isaiah 53:5
Do you hear the sweet sound of freedom in this verse? Jesus was pierced through to His heart, which poured out water and blood (John 19:34). The blood covers our sins and the water gives us a washing of regeneration. Have you ever noticed for something to be clean it must first be covered with a cleansing agent?
Then after it has been covered with a cleansing agent it is rinsed off in running water. You can then present it for use as a clean object. This is especially true with dirty dishes. Have you ever had a dish that was so dirty and crusty that it would take a something sharp as a knife to scrap the grime off.
You might even have said, "This just need's to be thrown away it is too dirty to be cleaned." If it were up to me I would throw away a lot of dishes just because of that fact alone. (Oh, but don't tell my wife that because she might count all the Tupperware® to make sure it's safe and sound). :)
For us we were disturbingly filthy before the hands of God, the righteous judge of our souls. We were unusable and the darkness of sin was caked on so thick that we only deserved to be thrown away. We were like filthy rags on our own; needing to be thrown away for sure.
Isaiah 64:6 says, “But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away (KJV).”
Like a dirty cheap Rubbermaid® container that’s stained and caked with the sins of our life God could have said this is worthless and junky. He would not have been wrong either. We were worthless, smelly and stained with the grime of sin in our lives.
Praise the Lord the precious cleansing blood of Jesus was poured out over us and covered that sin of ours. It wasn't just a temporary cleansing either it was a perfect life changing cleansing. Jesus washed our sins away and left us spotless. You see as an old stained Rubbermaid® container our hope was to become a sought after piece of Tupperware®.
The best part is that it is even better than that we have become new creations in Christ (2 Cor. 5:17). Our nature changed and we became the best thing in God's kitchen. We became the precious China dishes that are worth more than we can imagine. The value is priceless and if this were the Antique Road Show on PBS we would be a most fascinating find.
If you have ever seen the show there is an appraiser talking to some about Aunt Betsy’s little tea cup’s from 1846. The owner is amazed to find out they are worth an insane amount of money. Imagine if the appraiser was able to appraise the value of your life in Christ.
He would begin by describing your qualities and the age in which you became a purchased possession (Acts 20:28, Titus 2:14). Then they would tell that you are worth more to the Father so much so that He used His Son to purchase you. The audience would be amazed to find out that because you believed on the Lord Jesus Christ you were worth an incalculable amount of money.
So set your goals higher than being a sought after piece of Tupperware®, you are much more precious to the Father. You are no longer that dirty stained Rubbermaid® container. You were bought with a price and the blood of Jesus was poured out for you His child.
Jesus was pierced through to the heart to make you clean and usable for His glory. Since the day you trusted in Him as your Savior for the forgiveness of your sins, you will never be the same again. May the Lord bless your day and may you the fine China of heaven be usable by Him.
Transgression Free Indeed,
Adam
It is my prayer that you would be encouraged in your day-to-day walk and that you would be in the word everyday.
