"He was despised and forsaken of men, A man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief; And like one from whom men hide their face, He was despised, and we did not esteem Him." Isaiah 53:3 NAS

Jesus was truly a man of sorrows. At this moment we all fall into three categories: Had sorrows, have sorrows and will have sorrows. There is not one of us that is immune to sorrows. To say you will not have sorrows is to say you do not have emotions. For we all face common trials in life, we just don’t know when they will occur.

Jesus Christ our great King of kings and Lord of lords stepped down out of heaven to meet the requirement the Father had for the penalty of sin, which is death and separation from Himself. The God of the universe became a man knowing He would suffer the most excruciatingly painful death.

He knew before hand that he would suffer and face unbearable sorrows. It is hard to imagine that a sovereign God would willfully choose to suffer great sorrow on behalf of a world that would reject Him even after the fact. He had this knowledge and still His will was totally for us.

The awesome thing about God is that He is still the same sovereign God today as He was yesterday. He knows the anguish He faced through completing His will to save us from our sins and He knows the anguish and sorrows we face and are going to be faced with.

He knows today that you might be suffering with a terminal illness. He knows that tomorrow one of His children will be diagnosed with cancer or some other incurable disease. He knows that today one of his kids was in a very bad car accident. He knows the pain you suffer and the hurts you have.

He knows the loneliness you have deep within your heart. He knows the anguish you have over the loss of your beloved husband or wife. He knows the weakness you have from the trials of life beating you into the ground. He is intimately familiar with all that you are going through right now.

He is also here with you with right now. As you read this, the very presence of Jesus Christ is with you in the house, in the room and indwelling your heart. Be encouraged, you are not alone, let me say that again: You are not alone!

God the Father is tenderly aware of all that you have gone through and will go through. He knows because He is God and also He knows because He watched His beloved Son go through the most excruciating anguish on this earth. Jesus' entire ministry was acquainted with grief and sorrow.

If you are may you today be filled with the comfort of the Holy Spirit, the power of His presence, and the knowledge that He knows, He understands and He is with you in this very hour. You are His beloved child that He calls His own. Trust today that He knows exactly how you feel right now.
