“And those who know Thy name will put their trust in Thee; For Thou, O LORD, hast not forsaken those who seek Thee." Psalms 9:10 NAS

Here we are one more year closer to seeing the return of our Savior Jesus. Maybe this will be the year that He returns to get His bride to be with Him forever. Until then we continue to put our trust in Him.

Here in this verse we see a profound statement to encourage us in the brand new year ahead of us. It says, "those who know Thy name…" Can you compare anything to knowing His name.

As the old sayings go, "What's in a name?" or "It's not what you know, it's who you know." The truth of the matter is that for eternity's sake it sure does matter what's in a name.

Remember in Acts 4:12 it says, "And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved."

The name of Jesus Christ is all that matters and we can praise the God of heaven that He has allowed us to know His name. Even further we can rejoice that in His name we have Salvation.

In knowing His name the result is exactly as this verse in Psalm 9:10 reminds us. In His name we will put our trust. Do you need a message of hope to start the New Year off with? You can renew your heart to trust in His name for your daily walk from Sun up to Son down.

This verse doesn't say, "can" it says, "will". They ‘will’ put their trust in His name. Maybe right now you are going through tough times and the Lord has brought you to a place where all you can do is trust in His name to get through the day.

In our flesh we can sometimes forget where we have placed our trust. We may get off course and place it in other named things such as our jobs, our families and even one of the worst places of all -ourselves. Then the Lord will gently bring us back to His name.

It is in Christ alone that we place our trust. Another wonderful promise we have here to carry throughout the year ahead of us is the fact that we can be so confident in trusting in His name that He will never forsake us who know and seek Him.

This is an awesome fact to think on. We will forsake the Lord because of our flesh and that unfortunate heartbreaking thing called sin. We will fall prey to our flesh and sin against God.

We will make choices that we never even brought to the throne of God to seek what He thought about our decisions. We will take our eyes off of His provision and step into our abilities to supply our needs.

All the while our Heavenly Father will never take His eyes off of us. He is always attentive to us even when we are not. In fact because we know the name of His beloved Son Jesus Christ and have Him dwelling in our hearts, He is not even able to do so.

He has promised us that in Hebrews 13:5 where it says, “…for He Himself has said, "I WILL NEVER DESERT YOU, NOR WILL I EVER FORSAKE YOU," Start this year off right by reminding yourself where you have placed your trust and in whose name you have place your trust.

Then let the results be that of Psalms 9:11: “Sing praises to the LORD, who dwells in Zion; Declare among the peoples His deeds (NAS).”
