"To sustain the weary one..."

"The Lord GOD has given Me the tongue of disciples, That I may know how to sustain the weary one with a word. He awakens Me morning by morning, He awakens My ear to listen as a disciple." Isaiah 50:4 NAS

Do you need a word of encouragement today? Are you walking the thin line of weariness? Has this been an extremely tough week for you? Maybe you found out some news that was very hard to hear and has left you feeling tired and hopeless?

Today is a good day then to hear some encouraging news from the servant of the Great and Mighty God, Yahweh through His only begotten Son. This verse shows us the comforting words of the Messiah that was at this time still to come. One of His purposes was and still is to sustain the weary one with a word.

After all He is called the very word of God, the living word who flows over us as the living water to our souls. He does this at exactly the right moment in the right season of our lives when we are weary and especially when we are walking on the brink of collapse.

When our worries are at there worst, our Messiah Jesus in that season of time shows us His best. He meets us today exactly where we are to scoop us up and hold us tight against Him so that He may speak words that sustain us. He hears from the Father and then pours the Fathers love onto us.

Remember He was the suffering servant who would learn obedience through His suffering (Heb. 5:8). In this He would become to all, the entire source for eternal salvation (Heb. 5:9). He is the only source that can give to you, His weary child, in those times of suffering, weariness and pain.

See this in Jeremiah 31:25 where it says, "For I satisfy the weary ones and refresh everyone who languishes." Maybe that describes you, one who languishes? Are you in a place of suffering right now? Then go to the source of your strength, to the one who is right beside you through it all.

When you are weary, He is right here holding and sustaining you. When you hurt, He also hurts. He knows exactly what it feels like to be in the place where you are at this moment. Are you spending time with Him in fellowship and in His word? If you are then you will be blessed and He will definitely speak to you through it all.

His word is what sustains us when we are weary and exhausted, hurting and suffering. Jesus was always focused on the Father when He was here on the earth as the incarnate Son. As He says here in this verse, “He awakens Me morning by morning, He awakens My ear to listen as a disciple.”

He in His humanity met with the Father daily to be strengthened especially when he was weary and tired from His ministry to sinners and those were sick. Are you allowing Him to be the focus that awakens you to listen as His disciple? When you begin your day with Jesus before your feet even hit the floor out of bed you will be filled with His presence right from the start.

You will see Him meeting you as you walk as a disciple of Jesus through the hard days and of course through the wonderful days. Today, wherever you are, take a minute and focus your heart on Jesus. Remind yourself of how much He loves you and is the sustainer of your life. If he brings a verse to your memory right it down, date it and think on it throughout your day. You will find Him awakening your heart with encouragement and strength that only He can provide.

“Jesus we humbly come before you and open our hearts as Your disciples. Awaken to us Your word and speak to us who are the weary ones, whom you love with an everlasting love. Sustain us with the exact words that will meet each of us right where we are. For such a time is this Lord, that we have the awesome privilege to come before you. Strengthen us so that we may be able to strengthen others that you place in our lives. Thank you Jesus for how you hear and answer us.”

In Jesus Name -Amen

I hope you are truly blessed and encouraged today…

It is my prayer that you would be encouraged in your day-to-day walk and that you would be in the word everyday.
