“Blessed be the Lord, who daily bears our burden, The God who is our salvation.” Psalm 68:19 NAS
This is a very powerful promise in times of distress and heaviness. The second part of the verse establishes the first part. We are encouraged here to know that God bears our burdens on a daily basis. He doesn't come around weekly or monthly. He is our heavenly Daddy who is concerned with our every detail in life each and every day.
Even the minutest details are His concern. The Lord, the God of the universe, creator and sustainer of all things, walks right beside us daily in all that we go through. Of course only the God of our salvation could bear our burdens daily. There are certainly days when life can seem pretty overwhelming.
The burden of responsibilities we carry on a day to day basis may seem to be too much to handle. Thankfully the Lord promised us that He would take our burden. In Matthew 11:29-30 it says, "Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light (KJV)."
His burden is light and His yoke is easy. Do you keep that in memory? Have you thought that lately? This is one of those we all need to be reminded of often. How easily we can forget it when life becomes burdensome. I myself must forget this the quickest.
If you’re like me, then you may need to plaster this all over the house and car to keep it in the forefront of your mind. Now the KJV says, "Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah." He takes our heavy burdens and worries and exchanges them for His peace.
Charles Spurgeon says about this verse, "If he himself burdens us with sorrow, he gives strength sufficient to sustain it; and if others endeavour to oppress us, there is no cause for fear, for the Lord will come to the rescue of his people. Happy nation, to be subdued by a King whose yoke is easy, and who secures his people from all fear of foreign burdens which their foes might try to force upon them (1)."
He promises to bear our burdens daily and we need to remember that daily. Our lives get consumed with busyness and the stresses of life come in to rob us of the joy we have in Jesus. Are you like me and seem to wait before casting those joy-robbing cares onto the Lord. Wonderfully God always waits to immediately respond to us with His Holy Spirit's peace.
He waits for us to throw it on Him and leave it on Him. I am not sure why we wait to get to the point of fretting before throwing it on Him. He is ready to handle all the problems that come our way. He will let us wallow in it until we give it up to Him. Once we allow him to bear the burden He immediately responds by filling us with His perfect peace.
Today, if you are like me still holding onto that burden, then give it up. Throw it up right now to the Lord. If you must get into a habit of prayer everyday that says, "Dear Father, I give you all my burdens to carry today. Please take them in exchange for your peace. I ask this in Jesus name." Make it a habit of the heart starting now. May you have an incredibly peace filled weekend as you focus on our King.
In His Peace,
Adam

It is my prayer that you would be encouraged in your day-to-day walk and that you would be in the word everyday.
