"When therefore they had rowed about three or four miles, they beheld Jesus walking on the sea and drawing near to the boat; and they were frightened. But He said to them, "It is I; do not be afraid." They were willing therefore to receive Him into the boat; and immediately the boat was at the land to which they were going." John 6:19-21 NAS
The other day a friend of mine and I were talking about this verse and the Lord spoke something to me that was very much His way. The verse here that we are going to focus on is the last verse. It says, "They were willing therefore to receive Him into the boat; and immediately the boat was at the land to which they were going."
Do you see the key word here in this verse? It is the word 'immediately'. This is a significant thing to note. You see one thing had to take place for the boat to immediately be at the land. They had to willfully receive Jesus into the boat. As soon as they were willing therefore to receive Him into the boat; He was willing to finish getting them to the other side.
Isn't that how the Lord works when we are willing to give our hearts to Jesus. He immediately takes us as we are with all our filth and sin, forgives us, cleanses us and then changes our very nature in a moment of time. He immediately receives us into His kingdom spiritually speaking gives a place in the heavenlies and makes us citizens of heaven.
Immediately He makes us His adopted sons and daughters for His glory seeing us as the finished products that He will come back and receive to Himself as His own and it will be immediately in a twinkle of an eye. The Lord never forces Himself on us; He is never overbearing or makes us feel guilty. Rather He waits patiently not wanting any of us to perish but to come to repentance so that He may lavish us with His love, which He freely gives.
He works this immediately in our lives. Now it does not mean that we will all respond the same to His immediate change in our souls. It also does not mean that He will answer every prayer immediately that we ask. When we confess with our mouth and believe in our heart that God raised Jesus from the dead He immediately responds to our willingness to receive.
He always works with immediate response when we are willing to receive Him and His will into our lives. When we are willing to surrender ourselves to Him and give everything up for Him He immediately responds to the call and cry of our hearts. When we find ourselves in trouble, distress and distraught we need not wait to call on the Lord. We can immediately receive the peace of His Holy Spirit in those times.
Are you willing to receive Him into your situation or problem? If you are willing to receive Him into the boat of your heart then you will find that the burdens you carry will immediately be His burdens, for His yoke is light. What an awesome God we serve. Be immediately ready for Him to move in your life, as He is always immediately ready to respond to a heart willing to receive.
His -Forever,
Adam
It is my prayer that you would be encouraged in your day-to-day walk and that you would be in the word everyday.
