"Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth Does not become weary or tired. His understanding is inscrutable." Isaiah 40:28 NAS
Do you ever feel like you need to be reminded of the awesome power of our God? Life can sometimes blinds us to this fact. Life's circumstances can either draw us closer to Him or they distance us from Him depending on where our hearts are, at the time. Sometimes we need to hear in capital letters, "DO YOU NOT KNOW? HAVE YOU NOT HEARD?" We become weary or tired and take our eyes off of the fact that God has never left us as orphans in a cold world.
He never needs to sleep or rest. He never has to take a break. We grow weary and tired. When we become despondent we often forget so quickly the faithfulness of the Everlasting God. When our flesh fails and we become weak, frail and take our eyes off of Jesus we seem to forget the faithfulness of God from the previous times He has worked in and through us. In this verse the people of God had forgotten also. We need to be reminded often as they were.
Even the disciples had to be reminded and they were directly with Jesus. They saw His miracles and had a rich live history right before their eyes. We see this in Matthew 16:8-9 where it says, "But Jesus, aware of this, said, "You men of little faith, why do you discuss among yourselves that you have no bread? "Do you not yet understand or remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets you took up?"
He also asked a similar question here, "Do you not yet understand or remember..." That is why it is so important to be in the word of God. If not we draw distant from God by forgetting His promises to us. Here in this verse we may just need to be reminded of the ever -abiding faithful presence of Christ in our lives. Maybe we feel like we are in captivity and life has left us despondent. Today then be reminded of His goodness and greatness. Be reminded that He is the Creator of the ends of the earth and never grows weary or tired.
As the old song goes, “He’s got the whole wide world, in His hands, He’s got the wind and the rain, in His hands, He's got the tiny little baby, in His hands, He’s got the whole world in His hands.” Be reminded that He is fully aware of all our circumstances and has the full unsearchable understanding of everything. Always remember the past workings of God in your life, the lives of those around you and of course throughout the whole Bible.
We may not understand all His ways, but we can be confident that in His perfection He is in full control. We may not fully understand how the Lord is working in a situation in our lives. Remember, be reminded and allow your trust to be reassured in the Everlasting God and His provision for every detail of your life.
Remembering His Goodness,
Adam
It is my prayer that you would be encouraged in your day-to-day walk and that you would be in the word everyday.
