In the last devotional we as in our flesh were compared to the grass that withers and the flower that fades. As we get older the grass seems to wither and the flower fades faster and faster. Time becomes more valuable. Things we take for granted become more important. Generations of grass have grown up and then withered back to the ground yet again. We can be sure of one thing that has not and never will wither and fade away.
The word of our God stands forever. When the world is in chaos, when world leaders are not in agreement, when countrymen are disagreeing all over the world for decisions being made in our country and other countries and when times are changing we need something that is stable and unchanging. God's word has never changed to meet the times it has been in. It stands forever and forever will be.
In Psalm 119:89-90 it says, "Forever, O LORD, Thy word is settled in heaven. Thy faithfulness continues throughout all generations; Thou didst establish the earth, and it stands (NAS)." We can not even comprehend what forever is in the first place. We in our flesh can only conceive less than a hundred years of living life and then thousands of years of previous history. Forever is however out of our concept and our ability too truly fathom or understand.
Matthew 24:35 says, "Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words shall not pass away (NAS)." The word has been around before creation and will still be standing when all creation is judged for what it did with Jesus Christ. We will be judged by the living Word. Jesus is the living Word that is forever. The word of God is living and is not just a book of words and letters. It is not just a story of good moral laws. It is actually alive and it will change a man's thinking to see his need for a savior.
We see this in Hebrews 4:12 where it says, "For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart (NAS)." The reason it is active is because Jesus is the Word. Remember that John 1:1-3 says, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being by Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being (NAS)."
In John 1:14 it says, "And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth (NAS)." The word has always existed and always will. God's word was spoken to create something out of nothing. Then God's Word was made visible through His Son to transform sinners into His righteousness by His atonement to reconcile us to Himself. God's spoken and visible word will forever stand against all the tests of time itself.
We a finite people can find hope and rest for our souls in this forever-abiding infinite Word. Someday we will walk with Jesus in His very presence in heaven. We will walk with the living Word in perfection and in His glory. His word has accomplished the most important point of all existence. It has brought salvation to us. It has made us right with the living God. In Psalm 119:41 it says, "May Thy lovingkindnesses also come to me, O LORD, Thy salvation according to Thy word." We received salvation according to His word.
1 Peter 1:23 says, "for you have been born again not of seed which is perishable but imperishable, that is, through the living and abiding word of God (NAS)." Of course today many religions offer pseudo salvation according to some so called added book to the Bible or by taking His word out of context or adding to what it does not say. They do not offer salvation according to His word. Men through out the ages have distorted the word of God and only to God’s praise it has not changed.
History textbooks have been re-written to show a different history. Yet the word of God has never changed. It is the same today, yesterday and forever. Jesus is the Word that dwelt among us. We know that "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today, yes and forever (Heb 13:8 NAS)." Everyday we can open His word to have His light shine upon us. It will forever be the lamp unto our feet (Psalm 119:105). We walk in dark times, and thankfully have the eternal light of hope for wherever we walk.
God's word will always stand and the written word will always be relevant for the times that test it. It will always stand for it is the very breath of God that inspired it for His purpose and all to His glory. Stand firm and hold fast to the word of God during these times of uncertainty. It is so vital to be in His word daily so that you may be ready to give an account for the hope that is in you (2 Peter 3:15).
If we will give time to the word it will breath on our hearts strength and encouragement for each new day that we face. His word will always align our hearts to His will and our focus will always be Christ. His word will stand forever as forever to us is inconceivable until we live with Him in eternity. Have a great week in His word and be blessed as you read the forever blueprint for our lives.
In His Presence,
Adam
It is my prayer that you would be encouraged in your day-to-day walk and that you would be in the word everyday.
