"In the year of King, Uzziah's death, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, lofty and exalted, with the train of His robe filling the temple. Seraphim stood above Him, each having six wings; with two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. And one called out to another and said, "Holy, Holy, Holy, is the LORD of hosts, The whole earth is full of His glory."
Isaiah 6:1-3 NAS
In the last devotional we talked about imagining for a moment what it would be like to have seen this vision the prophet Isaiah was given by the Lord. Imagine seeing His vision and how you might react? How would you try to absorb that into your finite mind? This vision gives us the picture of what we will be doing in heaven. Our joy of joys will be to worship the Lord God, the creator of all things. We will worship Him without distraction.
We will love to worship Him, spending our every moment giving Him praise, glory and honor. The Seraphim here and now are doing just that. They worship the Lord, the God of all creation saying, "Holy, Holy, Holy, is the LORD of hosts, The whole earth is full of His glory (v.3)." Are we a people whose goal is to worship the God of the universe? In Revelation 4:8 the apostle John was shown a similar view.
It says, "And the four living creatures, each one of them having six wings, are full of eyes around and within; and day and night they do not cease to say, "Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God, the Almighty, who was and who is and who is to come." Our Lord loves worship and praise to His name. He desires that we cease not in our worship to Him and some day we will do just that. God is the only one worthy of worship and in fact He alone is to be worshiped, it is of extreme importance to Him.
In Deuteronomy 6:13 it says, "You shall fear only the LORD your God; and you shall worship Him, and swear by His name (NAS)." Psalm 29:2-4 says, "Ascribe to the LORD the glory due to His name; Worship the LORD in holy array. The voice of the LORD is upon the waters; The God of glory thunders,
The LORD is over many waters. The voice of the LORD is powerful, The voice of the LORD is majestic (NAS)."
It is awesome to worship Him throughout your whole day. Spend time thinking about Him and singing worship to Him. Do it within your heart, do it in your car, in your garage, on the bus, at your job and wherever you may happen to be. Memorize your favorite praise song to Him and hum it to Him. If you are able sing it aloud to His glory. It will bless your day and it will bless Jesus for sure. He delights to hear us worship Him.
Since He is omnipresent He is everywhere and can hear all of us from within the depths of our hearts worshiping Him at the same time. "Holy, Holy, Holy, is the LORD of hosts, The whole earth is full of His glory." He is so holy and glorious and deserving of praise. Psalm 99:9 says, "Exalt the LORD our God, And worship at His holy hill; For holy is the LORD our God (NAS)." Our entire purpose and goal as children of God is to worship Him.
In just doing this devotional I was overwhelmed with His presence and the thoughts of worship toward our heavenly Father and mighty God and Savior Jesus Christ. A. W. Tozer says, "Yes, worship of the loving God is man’s whole reason for existence. That is why we are born and that is why we are born again from above. That is why were created and recreated. That is why there was a genesis at the beginning re-genesis, called re-generation (1)."
When you think of worshiping the holy, holy, holy LORD of hosts does it make you want to get down on your knees and sing a psalm or hymn to His name. Does it overwhelm your spirit deep within your soul? I know that for me there have been many times when I have been worshiping the Lord with my mouth, but my heart and mind are elsewhere. My attention might be taken because of the day I had or thoughts about things that are going on. Sometimes we need to get our spirit aligned with His, we must bring everything and lay it at the cross.
To truly worship we must surrender our all, holding nothing back from Him. We need to bring everything to the foot of the cross and leave it all before Him. God seeks us to worship Him in spirit and in truth (John 4:23). "God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth (John 4:24)." The reason we can worship Him in the first place is because we have His Spirit living inside of our hearts (1 Cor 3:16, Rom 8:11, Eph 3:16-29, 1 John 4:13).
Without His Spirit dwelling inside of us, it would mean that we could not even come near to His presence because of our sins. Thankfully , we have been given confidence through the Blood of Jesus to come right into His presence and worship Him (Heb 3:6, 4:19). We have the privilege to come and say, "Our Father who art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy name (Matt 6:9 NAS)." Oh how great and marvelous and powerful and majestic is our King of Kings and Lord of Lords. He is holiness in every sense of the word -Holy, Holy, Holy is He.
Only Jesus,
Adam
