The Hassle

The info straight from Nettwerk:

WHY ISN'T WORLOCK INCLUDED ON THE SKINNY PUPPY VIDEO
COMPILATION?

The video for "Worlock" was comprised of numerous (over 80 in fact) clips
that were cut out of horror films by various classification boards.  It is
a non-stop gore-fest that was immediately banned by every video station
that had ever seen the video, as well as any border crossing guards
anywhere in the world.  The video is considered pornographic for this
reason.

That's the first reason it's not included on the video release.

The second reason concerns the sheer mountain of legal paperwork that
would be required in order to get approval from every single director of
the over 50 movies that the clips were taken from.  There is simply no way
for anybody to get a clearance to release this video in any form.  Even if
we were able to get legal approval to use all the clips that are contained
in the video, we would be disallowed from ever shipping a copy anywhere in
the world due to the content.  Complete catch-22.

So that is why the video for "Worlock" doesn't appear on the Skinny Puppy
video compilation.  It's been a 4-year battle in the attempt to get that
video released in some form.  It just isn't possible to do.

But the rest of the videos which do make an appearance are mostly
first-timers as far as anybody seeing them and a lot of the fans who are
quite familiar with the "Worlock" situation are still pretty happy to see
these videos being made available to the fans of the band.

The Outlets

Although it is not available commercially, the Worlock video (in its various versions) proliferates among tape traders. There are many people in the tape trading community who will be willing to make copies for other fans in exchange for another tape or some blanks. Seek these people out and you should have no trouble getting a copy of the video without purchasing it from a bootlegger.

Thankfully, there are also some places where you can see the video online:

**Maniac 2 Trailer, no film was ever made.

Another interesting point is that the sound during the "Restricted/X" intro
before the video is a sample from the movie Videodrome's title shot.

Version Differences

There exist at least three different versions of the Worlock video, each which bare a different M.P.A.A. rating. The X rated version is the most common, so that is what the transcription above refers to directly. The A rated version is apparently identical to the X rated version in terms of the actual videos content, however, the title graphic and credits sequences which frame them differ. The R rated version has some of the clips used in the video replaced (often with scenes from Altered States) and has different title graphic and credit sequences as well. Here's some more specifics:

The X Rated version begins with the red image of a cat which says "restricted". The screen then flickers and a big "X" appears, superimposed over the cat (accompanied by an audio sample of the film Videodrome's title shot). After the video a list of acknowledgements appears, largely crediting those responsible for the films which were used in the video. The following appears (as transcribed by Andrew Gowans):

The A Rated version features a text sequence before and after the video. This is transcribed below by Bill Piper. The A Rated version also features the same style introduction for the rating as the X (with the "restricted" cat) except that in this case it is an "A" which is superimposed.

The R Rated version features a completely different sequence before and after the video. It does not have the "restricted cat" rating. Instead the old "official-style" M.P.A.A. rating screen appears, with the screen all in red except for a black bar about a third from the bottom with the big ensquared "R" logo in it. Eventually the words "Skinny Puppy" fade in (in the same font as the title to Rabies). The whole screen ends up being layed out similar to the cover for the Worlock single. This screen then fades followed by black letters appearing on a red background which read:

DEDICATED

FU M.P.A.A.

This is followed by the video itself. The video differs slightly from the others in that a few different shots are used. After the video, a list of names simply called "Acknowledgements" is shown. The list is shown in a series of static screens (whereas that of the X Rated version was shown as a continuous scroll). The credits differ slightly as well, with some people and companies being named in one and not the other. Here is the R rated version's list (as transcribed by Andrew Gowans):

Why the different versions?

The different versions were made when it seemed that the rights to certain clips could not be obtained.
