My last show before SXSW. I really enjoyed this one.
Got into a dancy Wax Traxy early 80sish 12" vaguely hip-hoppy mood early on.
The set from Can through Frank Zappa ended up becoming a continuous mix of semi-ambient moody stuff that lasted about half an hour or so, with "Peaches" intentionally breaking the mood.
I had wanted to play "Reach Out and I'll Be There" by the Four Tops, which I know we have somewhere but I couldn't find it. So instead I dug into the Stax box set we happen to have and had a lot of fun with that.
Knock on Wood was covered by the "real" Donna Summer, which was also a pseudonym of Jason Forrest, hence that segue. "10 Amazing Years" samples the Who, hence the segue into Petra Haden's cover.
