Joanne Masters, M.Ed., C.A.S., is an Intuitive Astrologer and Transformational Guide who combines her intuition and knowledge of astrology with the ancient wisdom of nature, to provide readings and healing sessions for individuals, couples and groups.  She has a national clientele and has been in private practice for 18 years. She conducts private sessions by telephone, in person, and in natural settings, and does specialized workshops and retreats by request. Joanne lives in the San Francisco Bay area of California.

Joanne holds a Masters of Education and Certificate of Advanced Study in Psychophysical Movement, an in-depth study of and practicum in mind-body interaction, counseling psychology, body psychotherapies, anatomy, physiology and physics. In fulfillment of this degree, in 1987 Joanne completed an 8-month internship at Pathways to Well Being, Vermont's oldest and most comprehensive holistic health center at that time. There she learned counseling methods and principles of consciousness from contemplative psychotherapy, and healing and spiritual development through altered states of consciousness induced through breathwork (Rebirthing, Holotropic Breathwork, Integrative Breathwork, and Radiance Breathwork), and working with sound & touch (Experiential Anatomy). While completing this internship she began a 15-year intensive study of astrology and healing with Dina Yellen, Psychic Astrologer and Developer of Completion/Integration Healing, and became a professional astrologer, breathwork practitioner, and Guide of C/I Healing. Joanne worked closely with Yellen and assisted her in workshops and classes. During this time Joanne also began training in Korean martial art Moo Gong Do with Founder Master Dae Yong Kim, and in 1990 earned a black belt and went on to participate in the Instructor Certification Program.

Joanne has completed doctoral coursework in partial fulfillment of a Ph.D. in East-West Psychology, at California Institute of Integral Studies. At CIIS Joanne has studied eastern spiritual traditions, western psychology, transpersonal psychology and archetypal astrology with Richard Tarnas (author of The Passion of the Western Mind, and Cosmos and Psyche, to be released in 2006), and transpersonal psychology with Stanislav Grof (internationally known Founder and Developer of Holotropic Breathwork, and author of numerous books such as The Adventure of Self Discovery). Additionally, Joanne furthered her intuitive development through private work with internationally known transpersonal psychic Anne Armstrong, and in 2004 and 2005 taught workshops and classes together with Anne in the SF Bay area.

Joanne is also a wilderness educator. She integrates earth-based and shamanic traditional knowledge and practices, into her readings, transformative work, and teaching. Joanne received a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education in 1982, was Program Director of the Bedford YMCA in Beford Virginia from 1982-1984, and from 1981-86 was a wilderness trip leader, rock climber, and camp counselor at North Country Camps, a residential wilderness camp in the Adirondack Mountains of New York. She completed the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) Outdoor Educators course in 1984 in the North Cascades Mountains of Washington, went on Vision Quest in 1988 in the Inyo Mountains of California, and the following year completed a Vision Fasting Leaders course, both conducted by Steven Foster and Meredith Little (Founders of the School of Lost Borders, and internationally known, western pioneering leaders in the field). For the last 10 years Joanne has been exploring and training in shamanic (earth based) healing traditions and spiritual practices, and working with non-ordinary states of consciousness.  Joanne is commited to ongoing study and exploration of astrology, the natural world, and spiritual development, in order to assist individuals in awakening to their essential nature and optimal well being.
