Anita O'Day - This Is Hip

Hey, you!  Yeah, you.  C'mon and modulate over to the hep side of street where the good vibes are still spinnin' like crazy, man, crazy.  Anita O'Day was one child of the depression who Anita!was having none of it!  She set her self on the path to real livin', following her dream to be a singer wherever it led, and not stopping to look down no matter how high she flew -- at least not until 1966 or so, and then only long enough to regain her balance before setting off once again.

This swell new two-disc set from The Primo Collection is without a doubt the best intro to the song stylings of the one and only Ms. O'Day that you'll find anywhere near this price point -- if anywhere else at all, period -- regardless.  Spanning the first decade of her career and then some -- 1941 - 1952 -- here are the songs with which she made her mark, along with a healthy dose of the beginnings of her maturing style.  Accompanying her are a jumble of jammin' jazz journeyman including legends like Gene Krupa, Roy Eldridge, Stan Kenton and more.  These are discs that you'll find yourself playing over and over again.
