The
American Yankee Association has created the Pilot Familiarization Program to identify those areas where new and transitioning pilots may run into trouble flying
a Grumman. These aircraft have some distinct differences from their Cessna and Piper brethren and without proper
training, the novice pilot can run into trouble. The AYA administers the program in order to promote safety through standardization.
Furthermore, the program stresses those areas, identified through insurance claim statistics, where the unfamiliar
pilot is most likely to run into problems flying this family of aircraft. Contact the program head (
pfp@aya.org) for questions regarding the syllabus and your insurance broker or the AYA insurance director (
ins@aya.org) for premium discount information.
