As a child, I had several years of piano lessons, which I hated, causing me to conclude that playing music was not for me. Fortunately, I was wrong. I have always enjoyed listening to early music and when I was in my twenties, I picked up a recorder belonging to my husband and instantly became addicted. Suddenly it dawned on me that music is a social activity and its purpose is actually enjoyment, which was a new idea at the time. My attitude toward music lessons and practicing has undergone a dramatic change which has now lasted for twenty four years. I have performed with several early music groups playing all sizes of Renaissance and Baroque recorders, from sopranino to great bass and percussion. I even sing when I have absolutely no other choice. I am a relative newcomer to Consort Anon., having joined the group around 1982.
