| I taught myself soprano recorder after several years of piano and
violin lessons in elementary school. I never kept up with the other instruments
(though I'm trying to relearn piano now) but I'm still playing recorder
after all these years. I joined a recorder ensemble in high school and added
playing tenor. In college, I helped form a recorder group and began playing
bass. After graduation, I joined the former Columbia, MD, chapter of the
ARS and met the other people interested in forming a group that became Consort
Anon. With an opportunity to play regularly, I soon added alto and sopranino. I now play sopranino through bass, somewhat interchangeably, and can even manage great bass in a pinch. I also sing alto in several choirs and a jazz ensemble in addition to Consort Anon. I can even be persuaded to play percussion sometimes. |
