Our goal is to bring quality conservation and preservation services to museums and individuals that do not otherwise have access to a professional Conservator. We aim to establish long-term relationships with our clients in order to assist in establishing conservation policies and programs. In addition, one of our main objectives is to raise the overall awareness of conservation within the museum community and amongst the general public.
What
is Conservation?
Conservation is the process of arresting or slowing down the deterioration of
an artifact. This can be achieved either actively- by mechanical or chemical
intervention with the object or, passively- by storing or exhibiting the object
in a stable environment. A stable environment is one that is free of gaseous
pollutants, harmful light rays, & UV radiation as well as having constant
levels of temperature and relative humidity. During conservation, more than
just the physical artifact is preserved for future generations. Information
contained within the artifact is often revealed in the material it is composed
of and how it has deteriorated over time. Conservation is necessary so that
objects can be safely exhibited, studied and researched in the future.
