Regine and Le Danse Orientale

Regine has been the director and choreographer of Babylon Mood, the company's award-winning belly dance group, for 15 seasons. Every year, Regine creates a feature choreography and numerous shorter pieces that Babylon Mood perform in the Los Angeles area and greater Southern California. Regine has led the group in winning a trophy in the Group Category of the Belly Dancer of the Universe Competiton in Long Beach, CA. As a solo artist, Regine placed twice in the Veil Solo Belly Dance Category.

Regine takes inspiration for her choreographies from her rich ethnic dance background and her many years of performance experience. In fact, she has been dancing for most of her life. Her early training focused on classical Spanish Flamenco, but she soon branched out in other ethnic dance arts, including Mexican Folklorico, Polynesian Dance and Middle Eastern Dance (Belly Dance). For the latter, Regine's professional teachers include the well-known Southern Belly Dancer Fahtiem, the creator of tribal style belly dance, Caroleena Nericcio, and internationally known Middle Eastern musician and percussionist, Hossam Ramzy. Regine is widely recognized as an innovator in the field of ethnic dance and choreography. She is the recipient of the Arts Excellence Award in the Dance Category for the State of California in 2001 as well as the Excellence in Arts Award in the Dance Category given by the the City of Torrance.
