The month started off with a bang, as our star client
One of the Loudest Tragedies Ever Heard got a
nice bump from the folks at
Myspace.com, who put them on the front page just because they like them! It's nice to see that in this day and age organic love still
just happens like that. The experience has been a great one for the Tragedies: over
9,000 new friends,
50,000 hits to the site, over
80,000 new listens to their songs, and a few hundered new
CD sales. This is HUGE! In case you didn't know, Myspace.com is currently the
#14th most visited
website on the
ENTIRE INTERNET! Check out Loudest Tragedy's myspace page
here. In other news,
Bril hit #2 on the Alternative Specialty chart,
Nashville Pussy is
on tour, and
The Fall had a HUGE first week soundscan with bumps in all the radio markets. Amazing
shows this month as well:
Franz Ferdinand at the Greek kicked some butt. Backstage celebrity sighting:
Fran
Drescher...HOT! Openers
Cut Copy &
TV on the Radio were great, too. Props for
the hospitality go out to longtime friend and Cut Copy Tour Manager
Dave Burton (who's got a great
blog
you should check out
here). Another GREAT show this month was from new client
Anya Marina. OH MY GOD, she ROCKED!! With one of the
most unique voices I've ever heard, Anya plays half-acoustic, half-rock songs with amazingly smart lyrics. Plus she tells
great little anecdotes between songs a la
VH1's Storytellers. You MUST go see her! Check out her tunes and
schedule
here. Saw great sets this month from two Combat Rock clients:
New Maximum Donkey and
the Randies.
What fun those guys are! The two of them together are like a double-shot of
Jack Daniels! Also saw a great
set at the
Viper Room from
Kat Parsons who just keeps getting better and better everytime I see her. Her birthday is
November 8,
so send her a birthday message
here. New to Combat Rock this month is a partnership with
Radio Tag to bring some of you fine beautiful
people some kick-ass promotions like the
Run-DMC radio special, and the new
Beavis & Butthead
3-DVD set from
MTV Home Entertainment. More from us soon. Finally, since I am so busy I do
not even have time to hit the grocery store anymore, I just found out about this great new service where you can order groceries
online and they deliver them right to your door. Cut my shopping time from 2 hours to 10 minutes! Check out
yummy.com for all the details. In the words of Run-DMC: "I won't stop rockin til I retire." Go
Trojans!
