Hey party people. So much going on this month and it's not even halfway finished. The LA public radio powerhouse that is KCRW has been having their semi-annual fund drive this week and I volunteered for a couple days to help man the phones for incoming pledges. I even convinced one lady to up her pledge by an extra hundred bucks. She said I was a good salesman! It's all for a good cause. Other stuff happening so far this month: Hit a party where Oslo played a set with Looner (the side project of Oslo's drummer). Saw Izler rip an amazing set at the Lava Lounge. Saw Reprise recording artists Rock Kills Kid perform some Killers-inspired hits at the Viper Room. Also on the bill that night was local faves Run Run Run, and New Armada/WB recording artists The Fury. In the crowd were members of The Randies and Oslo. My man and fellow USC Alum John Singleton has done it again with his latest flick Four Brothers. This is seriously the best movie out right now. Go see it! Southern Rockers King Elementary played a hot set with Marjorie Fair & the 22-20's at the Troubadour. Travelled to Atlanta on Aug 3 for the Warped Tour to see the Sloppy Meateaters and met up with Jay Harren from 99X and Farzad from WRAS. Good times all around. Finally, just yesterday I saw an amazing showcase by a hot new unsigned band from Brighton, England called The Recoil. The manager of the Recoil, Mark Hobrough, used to be a radio promoter in the UK, and he said that in England promoters are called "Pluggers". Man, I love that! I am now going to refer to myself as a "Plugger". Coming up: a road trip with Oslo and a couple days in Palm Springs for a little R&R. Til next time- I remain your favorite Plugger.
