| Welcome to my
Web! I am an educator by vocation and an advocate of strong public schools by
avocation.
Experience
As Coordinator of the Graduate Program in Forensic Sciences
at the Oklahoma State University Center
for Health Sciences (OSU-CHS), I draw
heavily upon training in multimedia and instructional design for graduate course delivery
on the Internet. My work includes small Web sites like the Tulsa School Board
Guide and A Teacher's Guide to
Fair Use and Copyright, now part of FBI instructor training materials and also used in
teacher training across the country (by permission).
I have taught in middle-school, high-school, and college; in
public and private schools;and in open as well as traditional classrooms. Beginning
fall 2005, I will co-teach a scientific writing course at OSU-CHS.

Education
Through the Educational
Technology Leadership Program, I received a Master of Arts degree in Education and
Human Development from The George Washington University
(GWU) in Washington, DC. I also have a bachelor's degree in English from the University of Central Oklahoma.
My education also includes coursework in writing,
information management, and education research; state- and national-level training in
leadership, school management, education trends, and technology; and international
conferences on distance learning.

- Community Service
-
- I am now in my fourth term on the Tulsa Board of Education and have served as
as Board President, Vice-President, and Director for the Oklahoma
State School Boards Association.
-
- Volunteer work has engaged me in activities with the Tulsa
Mentoring Council, Tulsa Court Appointed Special Advocates, PTA, Philbrook Museum of Art,
and my church. Along with other co-workers from OSU, I currently mentor
at an elementary school near the campus.

- Background
My family includes two wonderful sons--both in college, one
with a passion for movies and video production, the other with a passion for music.
I grew up in Oklahoma City, along with eleven brothers and
sisters, attending parochial and public schools, living in earlier years on an old
farm property just outside the city limits. That huge family turned out to be a
great advantage. Though scattered across the country, we remain close and hold a
reunion every year.
In my spare time I read, write, play on the computer, see
movies, and play bridge. For exercise I do a combination of racewalking, swimming,
and yoga. Beaches and mountains top my list for favorite places to relax.
