Description: Body length about 4 3/8" to 5", with a wingspan of about 13 1/2". Yellowish brown fur, rather long ears for this genus. |
Range: Southern California, Southern Arizona, New Mexico and Texas, south to Argentina. |
Habitat: Found in wooded areas and desert scrub. Roosts in foliage, particularly in palm trees. |
Diet: Various flying insects. |
Behavior: Comes out to forage about dusk. Usually solitary, but females form small nursery colonies. Usually gives birth to twins or triplets, in the late spring. |
