Long-Eared Myotis

Myotis evotis

Description: Body length about 3" to 3 3/4". Long, shiny brown fur. Has long, narrow ears, dark brown or black in color.

Range: Found across much of western North America, from British Columbia south to California and New Mexico.

Habitat: Lives in coniferous forests in mountain areas, roosts in small colonies in caves, buildings and under tree bark.

Diet: Small moths, beetles, flies, various other insects.

Behavior: When roosting, these bats don't cluster together like many other species. Form small nursery colonies of 10-30 bats. Bears a single young each year in early summer.
