Sonoma State University - Spring Term - 2003 In this Compensation Course taught by Mr. Hughes, Total Compensation Plan Policy and Design is covered along with Modern Job and Competency Analysis and Job Evaluation strategies and methods. Impact of Federal laws and guidelines such as the Uniform Guidelines on Employee Selection Procedures, American with Disabilities Act, and relevant case law will be discussed as they bear on contemporary practices in Job and Competency Analysis and Job Evaluation. Traditional and Contemporary Wage and Salary structure design and mechanics will be explored as well as survey project management and analysis. Components of Human Resource software applications designed to aid in developing and managing compensation planning and administrative systems will be reviewed. Wage and hour law at both the Federal and State levels will also be covered. Robert C. Hughes Jr, M.S. is the course instructor. RC ' Bob' Hughes has over 23 years experience in Human Resources Managment and has specialized and consulted in the areas of Human Resource Systems Management and Development and Compensation Planning and Research Systems. Mr Hughes has developed organization wide Compensation Policies and Procedures, Base and Variable Compensation Plans including Incentive and Gainsharing programs and has built complex Total Compensation Planning and Analysis Systems. Mr. Hughes has practiced and consulted in HRMS and Compensation Systems development, evaluation, deployment and management in both the public and private sectors including finance, insurance, health care, college and universities, transportation and the federal government. Mr. Hughes has developed commercial Compensation Planning Software and Online Compensation Planning Systems and has worked as a Compensation Planning Consultant in a wide variety of corporate and public sector settings. Mr. Hughes has been a member of the American Compensation Association since 1984 and received APS/PHR certification in Compensation and Benefits from HRCI in 1986. He holds a Master in Science Degree in Industrial Psychology from San Francisco State University and a Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Compensation Assocation(renamed WorldatWork in 2000).
