Our Deacon’s Fifth Anniversary

This Thursday, November 12th, Deacon Pat and Deacon Nay will celebrate their fifth anniversary as deacon’s.  Be sure to congratulate them on their dedication and service for the last five years.

 

Congratulations, Thank You and Farewell goes out to Cheryl Dockery who was our Finance Manager for the past five years.  Cheryl will be starting a full time position with Team Daniel.  You will be missed. 

 

Part time position available

A part time position is available at Good Shepherd.  The position is a dual position for 15 hours a week .  71/2 hours would be working in the office with the administrator on the computer and 71/2 hours would be helping the plant manager to care for the Church and Social Hall. If you are interested in applying for this position, please contact Janice Scott in the Church Office by Monday, November 16, at 425-1590.

 

If you would like to dedicate a Mass in “Memory” or in “Honor” of a loved one, please call Janice Scott in the Church Office.  Mass stipends will be $10.00 per Mass.  If you would like to purchase flowers in “Memory” or in “Honor” of a loved one, the Weekly Flower Sheet for 2010 is available on the Flower Sign-up Board located in the Kitchen airlock.  Cost for flowers is $48.95.   Thank you.

 

Family Christmas Mass Play

We are looking for children and youth of all ages to sing and act.  If you would like to be part of “The BIG STORY” for our Family Christmas Eve Mass on December 24th at 6:00pm, join us for tryouts on Sunday, November 15th at 1:00pm in the Church.

 

Congratulations goes out to Linda Kazcorowski on her new grandson, Justin Wayne.  Justin is a healthy 8lb. 5 oz, 20in. baby born on October 28th. Congratulations Linda and family!!

Father Thanh, Deacon Pat, Finance Council, Parish Council and the Staff would like to wish all of you a safe and happy Veterans Day. 

 

The 2009 Lector workbooks have arrived.  They will be available next weekend, November 14/15 on the table in the Gathering Area.  Be sure to pick one up and mark the sheet by your name.

    

Next Thursday, November 19th, Father Thanh will celebrate his 15th anniversary as a Priest.  Be sure to congratulate him when you see him.

LIGHTING OF ADVENT CANDLES

During the season of Advent, at the beginning of each Saturday evening and Sunday morning Masses, a family representing the parish will be called forward to light the Advent candles.  If your family would like to volunteer to light the candles, be sure to sign the sheet located on the table in the Gathering Area that will be available next weekend , November 14/15. 

 

“Share Christmas Tree”

Each year our church adopts several families from the ALMS House, St. Isidore and the community.  Our Christmas Share Tree will be available November 21/22. We look forward to your help during this time of need.  Thank you and may God Bless You.  Nick Foti and Deacon Nay.

Help Needed with Love Lunches at the ALMS House

The ALMS House is in need of volunteers to help pass out lunch and dinner 7 days a week to the homeless and less fortunate of Hope Mills.  If you have time and are interested in helping, please contact Nick Foti at(910) 425-1535 for more information.

 

Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP)

Cumberland County Department of Social Services is hosting the LIEAP.

The Office, located at 1225 Ramsey Street, Fayetteville, will be taking LIEAP applications until Friday, November 13, 2009, 8:00am-4:30pm.  The office will be closed on Veterans Day, November 11, but will be open until 6:00pm on Thursday, November 12th.  Families will need to provide verification of income, Social Security, ID and a current bank statement.  For more information, please call (910) 677-2821.  The Crisis Intervention Program (CIP) is available for more urgent energy assistance needs.  Please call (910) 307-0359 for more information on the CIP program.
